Snaps 1.0.2
What's new
- Annotation editor. Mark up a capture right after taking it, with arrows, text and blur. Thanks to @lafraia in #1!
- Double-click a preview or a gallery card, or click its new ✏️ button, to open the editor.
- To open every capture there automatically, turn on Settings → After Capture → Open in the editor.
- Tools: Select (V), Arrow (A), Text (T) and Blur (B), with seven colors and three sizes. Shift snaps arrows to 45° and keeps blur boxes square.
- Blur pixelates before softening, so the hidden text can't be recovered.
- ⌘Z / ⇧⌘Z undo and redo, ⌘C copies, and Done (⌘↩) saves the annotations into the capture at full resolution. The preview, the gallery and drag and drop then all use the annotated version.
- Closing without Done keeps your marks as an editable draft until you quit Snaps.
- Settings: "Dismiss after" is now a menu, so it no longer wraps onto three lines.
- Developers: building from source works with just the Command Line Tools again.
Install
Download Snaps.dmg below, open it, and drag Snaps into Applications. Already have Snaps? Replace it with this version; your settings and Screen Recording permission carry over.
Requires macOS 26 or later. Universal app (Apple silicon and Intel). Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Free and open source (MIT).
Snaps 1.0.1
What's new
- One-drag Screen Recording setup. On first launch Snaps opens the Screen & System Audio Recording settings and docks a slim glass pill under the window. Drag the pill into the list, flip the switch, and hit Relaunch. There's no more hunting for the + button.
- The setup pill never steals your keyboard, so the macOS password prompt works normally.
- A proper installer window. The DMG opens to a branded window: drag Snaps onto Applications and you're done.
- Set Up Screen Recording is available any time from the menu bar popover and Settings.
Install
- Download Snaps.dmg below, open it, and drag Snaps into Applications.
- Launch Snaps and drag it into the Screen Recording list when the pill appears. Switch it on and relaunch.
Requires macOS 26 or later. Universal app (Apple silicon and Intel). Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Free and open source (MIT).
Snaps 1.0.0

- Straight to your clipboard: every capture is ready to paste with ⌘V.

- Gallery: a glass strip across the top of the screen with your recent captures. Click to copy, drag to share.
- Multi-monitor aware: previews and the gallery follow your cursor to the active display.
- Optional auto-save to a folder, capture sound, window shadow, and launch at login.
