Project, Credits, and Licenses

DC32-cfw is an unofficial community firmware project for the DEF CON 32 badge. It is built on the original uGB badge firmware and incorporates or adapts work from many emulator, game-port, and utility projects.

Credits

  • Original badge firmware: Dmitry Grinberg
  • Badge hardware collaboration: Entropic Engineering
  • Emulator, game-port, and utility sources: see the project references in Apps.
  • Laser Tag: the app follows the MIT-licensed OpenLASIR protocol by Dani Weidman; the pinned source is in third_party/openlasir.

Licenses and external content

Ports, emulators, bundled components, and external SD assets remain subject to their own upstream licenses and notices. Consult the source material and release documentation before redistributing any component.

ROMs and proprietary game data are not distributed with the project. Add only content you own or are otherwise legally permitted to use. Data-preparation helpers are documented in Media and Storage.

BadUSB and USB automation can control a connected computer; use them only on systems you own or are explicitly authorized to test. Infrared transmissions can affect nearby equipment, so use them responsibly.

Trademarks and affiliation

This project is not affiliated with or endorsed by DEF CON, Raspberry Pi, or the owners of referenced games and software. DEF CON, product names, game names, and other third-party marks belong to their respective owners.
