Releases: nefariousjosiah/WWE-SVR2009-RECOMP
Release list
v0.3
WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 running natively on Windows, and on Linux and the Steam Deck through Proton: the game's code recompiled for PC, with a native Vulkan renderer. 60 fps, up to 4K; 720p at 60 fps on the Steam Deck. Matches load in about 20 seconds.
New in v0.3: a much sharper image. The game ends every frame with its own edge-blur filter (the Xbox 360's cheap anti-aliasing), which smeared hair, tattoos, ropes and the crowd at PC resolutions. It's now off: the higher internal resolution smooths edges instead, and edge detail in a match is about three times higher. To get the original, softer look back, set svr_edge_blur = true in svr2009.toml.
Also included: DLC support (your own DLC files go in the dlc folder; see the README) and the in-game settings menu (F1, or Back + Start on a controller, View + Menu on the Steam Deck).
You need your own copy of the game: a disc image (.iso, about 7.3 GB) of your own SvR 2009 disc, USA / Europe release. None of the disc's files are in this download, and this project does not condone piracy.
Download
SVR2009-NATIVE.zip under Assets below (not Source code, which is the developer source).
Windows
- Extract the zip into a folder of its own (for example
C:\Games\SVR2009-NATIVE). - Copy your
.isointo that folder, next tosvr2009.exe. - Run
svr2009.exe(if Windows warns, More info > Run anyway). The game finds the disc image by itself and starts.
A controller is recommended: keyboard controls are included but not tested yet.
Linux / Steam Deck (Proton)
Extract the zip, copy your .iso into that folder next to svr2009.exe (and any DLC into its dlc folder), add svr2009.exe to Steam as a non-Steam game with Proton Experimental, and start it (from Game Mode on the Deck). Step by step: README.
v0.2
WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 running natively on Windows, and on Linux and the Steam Deck through Proton: the game's code recompiled for PC, with a native Vulkan renderer. 60 fps, up to 4K; 720p at 60 fps on the Steam Deck. Matches load in about 20 seconds.
New in v0.2: DLC support. If you own SvR 2009's downloadable content (the Roster Update packs: new superstars, their entrances and an extra costume), copy your own DLC package files into the dlc folder next to svr2009.exe and start the game: they're installed on the first start and the DLC superstars are on the roster. No DLC is included: you need the package files from your own Xbox 360 (the files with long names from Content\0000000000000000\54510826\00000002\ on its hard drive). Details: README. The settings menu (F1) now also shows the version.
C:\Games\SVR2009-NATIVE; keep the path short if you add DLC). - Copy your
.isointo that folder, next tosvr2009.exe. - Run
svr2009.exe(if Windows warns, More info > Run anyway). The game finds the disc image by itself and starts.
F1 (or Back + Start on a controller) opens the settings menu.
View + Menu opens the settings menu; to use the top-left back button instead, bind L4 to F1 in the game's Steam controller layout. Step by step: README.
v0.1
WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 running natively on Windows, and on Linux and the Steam Deck through Proton: the game's code recompiled for PC, with a native Vulkan renderer. 60 fps, up to 4K; 720p at 60 fps on the Steam Deck. Matches load in about 20 seconds.
New in v0.1: an in-game settings menu, so there's no launcher any more. Press F1 (or Back + Start on a controller, View + Menu on the Steam Deck) for resolution, fullscreen or window, 60 or 30 fps, screen shape, FPS counter, sound and keyboard controls. Changes are saved for next time.
You need your own copy of the game: a disc image (.iso, about 7.3 GB) of your own SvR 2009 disc, USA / Europe release. None of the disc's files are in this download, and this project does not condone piracy.

SVR2009-NATIVE.zip under Assets below (not Source code, which is the developer source).
Windows
- Extract the zip into a folder of its own (for example
C:\Games\SVR2009-NATIVE). - Start the game whichever way you like (if Windows warns, More info > Run anyway):
- With the launcher: run
Launcher.exe, press Choose disc image..., pick your.iso, then press Play. - Without the launcher: copy your
.isointo the game's folder and runsvr2009.exe. It finds the disc image by itself and starts.
- With the launcher: run
A controller is recommended: keyboard controls are included but not tested yet.
Linux / Steam Deck (Proton)
On Linux, including the Steam Deck, the Windows release runs through Proton. Start the game itself rather than the launcher, which still has bugs under Proton: extract the zip, copy your .iso into that folder next to svr2009.exe, add svr2009.exe to Steam as a non-Steam game with Proton Experimental, and start it (from Game Mode on the Deck). Step by step: README.
