v0.1.3 · Build Headers & Reload Command
Human notes: changed GPT chat, new GPT style...
✨ New Features
Annotated Build Headers
confb build now automatically prepends an informative header to generated configuration files (for formats that support comments).
Each header includes:
- Build time and confb version
- Output path and format
- Merge rules used
- Source files list with SHA256 checksums
Supported formats: kdl, toml, yaml, ini
Skipped automatically for: json, raw
Example:
// confb build
// version: 0.1.3
// time: 2025-10-07T12:00:00-10:00
// target: niri
// output: ~/.config/niri/config-test.kdl
// merge.rules: maps=deep arrays=append keys=last_wins section_keys=[layout]
// sources[4]:
// 1) ~/.config/niri/config-base.kdl sha256=...
// 2) ~/.config/niri/config-rules.kdl sha256=...
// 3) ~/.config/niri/config-binds.kdl sha256=...
// 4) ~/.config/niri/dms/colors.kdl sha256=...Reload Command
New subcommand: confb reload
Allows signaling the running daemon to reload configuration without restarting.
confb reload [--pid-file PATH] [--unit confb.service] [--user] [--method auto|pid|systemd] [--trace]Behavior
- Sends
SIGHUPto the daemon through:- PID file (
~/.cache/confb/confb.pid,/run/user/<uid>/confb/confb.pid,/var/run/confb.pid) - Or
systemctl kill -s HUP confb.service(system or--user)
- PID file (
- Auto mode falls back between methods (PID → systemd → systemd --user)
- Quiet by default; use
--tracefor detailed diagnostics - Prints one clean success line on completion
🔧 Improvements
- Cleaner CLI output during build operations
- Consistent, quiet reload behavior under systemd or manual runs
- Trace mode now provides clear diagnostic context without noise
