nxclone 0.3.8 — reliable toggle resets

Choose a tag to compare

@nerdrx nerdrx released this 01 Oct 17:14

Fix toggles that enable but do not turn off

The supplied avatar uses Write Defaults On. nxclone incorrectly forced expression-input-copy and placement layers Off after VRCFury finished building, introducing a mixed controller and breaking implicit resets. Generated layers now follow the selected or detected On policy consistently.

Validation

  • Native implicit-reset regression passes for repeated main and clone On/Off cycles.
  • Supplied-avatar native checks pass independent Chains, Warmers, Fem, TailDown, TailThin, Wet Effect On and Hidden resets. All final FX states retain On.
  • Selected placement/posing setup passes the full SDK/VRCFury pipeline at 151 synced bits; integrated all-option generation checks pass.
  • Other Rock-it effects have no observable output in the source-only native baseline either. Their live SDK behavior remains unverified; parameter readback is not treated as proof. Windows and live VRChat still need testing.

Update

Update to 0.3.8, regenerate from the original avatar with Write Defaults Auto, and upload again. The previously generated controller retains the old mixed settings.

nxclone 0.3.7 — toggle isolation fixes

Choose a tag to compare

@nerdrx nerdrx released this 01 Oct 15:57

Toggle isolation fixes

  • Copy externally owned Animator states, transitions and behaviours before rewriting clone FX. This prevents clone generation from changing main-avatar toggle conditions.
  • Remap Direct Blend Tree child weight parameters to each clone namespace, including VRCFury-generated toggle graphs.
  • Preserve source graphs when adding shared FX or afterimage curves.

Validation

Both regressions fail without their fixes and pass with them. Native Linux Unity checks pass repeated main/clone clothing and Direct Blend Tree enable/disable cycles with independent animated weights. The supplied avatar passes full SDK/VRCFury preprocessing, including main transition isolation and cloned child-weight aliases (124 synced bits). Live VRChat and Windows runtime behavior remain unverified. Existing fixture hook and vendor shutdown warnings remain.

Update

Update nxclone to 0.3.7 through your VPM manager, regenerate a scene copy from your original avatar, then upload again. Previously generated animation graphs are not repaired merely by updating the package.

nxclone 0.3.6 — independent avatar toggles

Choose a tag to compare

@nerdrx nerdrx released this 01 Oct 07:21

Independent clone avatar toggles

Each clone now gets an Avatar toggles submenu for copied clothing, props and supported effects. New setups enable Independent clone toggles / expressions and Exclude GoGo Loco from clone menus by default. Existing saved setups may need these enabled manually.

  • GoGo menu branches and their exclusive synced parameters are omitted from the clone. Dedicated GoGo FX layers become inert placeholders, preserving layer indices. The main avatar keeps its GoGo controls.
  • Regular clones retain particles, lights, audio sources and cloth. Independent FX clones also retain contact sensors with separate output parameter names; unused outputs cannot write into main-avatar parameters. Afterimages remain visual silhouettes.
  • Source transform masks, Animator parameter curves and audio behavior paths/parameters are retargeted to clone aliases. Avatar-global tracking and locomotion behaviors are excluded from clone FX.
  • Bool/Int/Float differences between expression and controller parameters no longer cause an unnecessary build rejection; controller types remain intact.
  • VRCFury duration markers retain clip timing. SPS setup curves are omitted only when the same clip contains their baked material and object enable curves.

Checks

Linux Unity native Animator checks cover independent clothing and effect toggles, visibility, masks and numeric metadata. Menu filter and integrated generation checks cover source preservation, standalone afterimages, all-axis controls and default Distance/Yaw controls.

Full SDK preprocessing of the supplied avatar passes: copied Wet Effect On, Shoot, Gold Stream, Drip and SPS On controls use separate aliases, baked SPS runtime curves remain, and the final synced cost is 124/256 bits. The fixture still emits legacy plugin warnings and a vendor exception on shutdown after passing checks.

Windows, live VRChat and full feature parity remain unverified. Physics/script-driven clone behavior is still limited. Update and regenerate from your original avatar; existing uploaded avatars do not update automatically.

Standalone afterimages

Use the new Afterimages only button to enable trails without adding a clone. You can also remove the last clone manually and enable afterimages.

  • Empty clone layouts remain empty through preset save/load and avatar upload generation.
  • Clone-only options are hidden with zero slots. Previously enabled clone options emit no clone parameters or controls.
  • Standalone generation adds a direct Afterimages toggle using one synced parameter bit, without a clone master toggle.
  • An empty layout with afterimages disabled reports an actionable validation message.

Checks

Linux Unity editor checks cover standalone generation, preset persistence, upload generation and the 255-to-256-bit parameter boundary. Existing combined all-options checks pass for both all-axis and default Distance/Yaw controls.
Windows and live VRChat remain unverified.

Update the package and regenerate from your original avatar. No purchased vendor assets or DLLs are included.

Dance-partner root movement

Root slots now default to DancePartner movement. The clone copies steps in its own facing direction: with 180 degrees yaw, your left becomes its left (your right). Root turns rotate the clone around its own root instead of orbiting around the avatar.

  • Hide and show the clone to capture a fresh starting position and direction.
  • Position and rotation dials work with this movement mode. Yaw changes also update its movement basis.
  • World drop holds the clone in place and resumes the dance movement when released.
  • Choose Attached for the previous root-relative following behavior. Bone and custom anchors keep their attachment behavior.
  • Movement mode persists in presets and saved setup. Dance mode adds three constraints per clone and no expression parameter bits.

Checks

Native Linux Unity checks cover nonzero starting position and yaw, own-left steps, turning without orbit, vertical movement, exact world-drop resume, origin reset and recapture, and position/yaw dials. Combined all-options generation passes for both all-axis and default Distance/Yaw controls, including visibility capture bindings.
Windows and live VRChat remain unverified. Legacy DexClone cleanup exceptions occur after successful test execution in the isolated fixture.

Update the package and regenerate from your original avatar. Select Root movement: Dance Partner for root slots if an existing saved setup retains Attached. No purchased vendor assets or DLLs are included.

Placement controls

  • Select position and rotation axes independently. Distance (Z) and yaw (Y) are the default selections when enabling their control groups.
  • Each selected axis costs 8 synced parameter bits per clone; distance plus yaw costs 16.
  • Selecting no axes emits no controls or parameters. Rotation creates carriers only for selected axes.
  • Selections persist through presets, saved setup, and upload generation.

Validation

Native Linux Unity checks passed for all eight axis masks, selected movement and rotation, world-drop hold/resume, all-options generation, and default selected-axis generation. The narrow editor window was visually checked.
Windows and live VRChat behavior remain unverified.

Update the package and regenerate from your original avatar to use the new controls. This preview contains no purchased vendor assets or DLLs.

@nerdrx nerdrx released this 30 Sep 21:34

nxclone 0.3.2 preview

Adds optional in-game pitch, yaw and roll dials per clone alongside existing position controls.

  • Enable In-game rotation dials before generating a scene copy.
  • Each axis adds -180 to +180 degrees around successive local axes; 0.5 preserves configured orientation.
  • Configured placement and position dials stay unchanged. Three carrier transforms keep rotation animation layers independent.
  • World drop holds current orientation while dials change; disabling drop resumes with current dial values.
  • Rotation costs 24 synced parameter bits per clone; position and rotation together cost 48.
  • Settings persist through presets, generated setup components and upload preprocessing.

Linux native Unity Play Mode checks pass for signed rotations, combined axes, rotated/custom anchors, retained yaw-180 setup, position coexistence and drop/resume. The integrated all-options check passes with two clones and 132 unique parameters. Existing purchased-package cleanup exceptions occur after test success markers. Windows and live VRChat remain unverified.

Update via VPM and regenerate from your original avatar. Full feature parity remains open; see docs/PARITY.md. No purchased assets or vendor DLLs are distributed.

@nerdrx nerdrx released this 30 Sep 21:05

nxclone 0.3.1 preview

  • Responsive Unity window: full labels at narrow widths and clear XYZ placement fields.
  • New clone slots default to 1 m forward and 180 degree yaw; existing saved layouts retain their settings.
  • Optional per-clone in-game XYZ placement dials, neutral at 0.5 with +/-2 m per axis. World drop retains its position while dials change; resume uses current settings.
  • Afterimages track the main avatar at zero offset, including render-rig ancestors, local translation and scale. Direct scale copying prevents feedback drift.
  • Shared or per-afterimage colours, independent flat silhouettes, explicit trail draw order, strict primary-body masking and near-camera fade.

Update through VPM, then regenerate from your original avatar. Existing uploaded avatars do not change automatically.

Linux native Unity constraint/control tests, integrated option/menu checks, narrow-window visual inspection and offscreen GPU rendering pass. Windows, live VRChat, multi-user contacts and full feature parity remain unverified. The supplied avatar's latest full callback rerun is blocked by a legacy VRCFury OriginalContactsHook exception in the disposable test fixture; current native rig checks and earlier preprocessing gates are separate evidence. See docs/PARITY.md for functional gaps and limits. No purchased assets or vendor DLLs are distributed.

nxclone 0.3.0 preview — native controls and placement fixes

Choose a tag to compare

@nerdrx nerdrx released this 30 Sep 19:55

nxclone 0.3.0 preview

Regenerate a scene copy from your original avatar after installing this update.

Fixes

  • Empty anchors use the avatar root with zero offset. Bone offsets follow the selected bone's frame.
  • World drop holds position, rotation and scale while the owner moves; disabling it resumes following.
  • Final clone extraction runs after VRCFury Armature Link and before parameter compression.
  • Clone visibility and afterimages have separate controls and start hidden.
  • Flat afterimages retain primary-body silhouette priority.
  • Wear-off restores original renderers, masks and anchors without overwriting existing FX tracks. Direct switching between worn clones works.
  • Contact-off restores ordinary anchor weights while preserving recording-owned weights.
  • Record uses a durable synced take signal instead of immediately clearing a brief request.

New controls

  • Whole-body freeze, grabbable posing, limb IK, and hand/foot contact attachment.
  • Sampled body, hips and root-movement recording, replay and speed controls.
  • Independent clone FX, expression/gesture snapshots, transition locks and gesture commands.
  • Exclusive wear selector with original-body visibility and afterimage-mask transfer.
  • Optional VRCFury budget deferral with a final upload gate; menus paginate and preserve existing controls.

Validation boundary

Linux Unity 2022.3.22f1 checks cover generated assets, native movement and recording, controller composition, and SDK preprocessing/compression. VRChat parameter-driver, layer-control and FinalIK behavior still needs an in-game check. Windows and live multi-user operation remain unverified. See the repository's feature coverage document for precise limits.

The package contains independent editor source and MIT-licensed VRLabs Contact Tracker assets. Purchased packages, vendor DLLs and avatar assets are excluded.

nxclone 0.2.1 preview — linked clones and flat afterimages

Choose a tag to compare

@nerdrx nerdrx released this 30 Sep 14:17

Runtime fixes

  • Assemble final clone visuals in a late SDK preprocessor, after VRCFury Armature Link and avatar build tools finish. Hidden scene previews are removed before those tools run, and the authoring component is removed from the upload copy. This avoids trying to upload a VRCFury test copy.
  • Fix expression toggles: on-value is 1, custom animation layers are enabled, and clone/afterimage visibility starts off without saved state.
  • Gate visual roots instead of forcing every renderer on, preserving hidden outfit parts.
  • Add an independent afterimages toggle. Its primary-avatar silhouette mask also stays off until enabled.
  • Draw afterimages as flat, single-colour transparent silhouettes, without layered front/back alpha accumulation. The main avatar silhouette takes priority over the trail.
  • Mirror outfit visibility/blendshape changes onto silhouettes while keeping avatar material swaps out of the silhouette shaders.
  • Bound generated filenames and ship stable Unity metadata.

Upgrade

Update nxclone to 0.2.1, then regenerate from the original avatar. Old 0.2.0 generated avatars do not contain the new upload setup component.

Verified

  • Unity 2022.3.22f1 / VRChat SDK 3.10.2 compilation.
  • Full SDK preprocessing on an isolated copy of the Nixomi avatar: matching linked meshes/bones and hidden roots.
  • Animator execution of clone/afterimage visibility, world drop, pose freeze, and scale.
  • Source FX preservation and exclusion of material swaps from silhouette mirroring.
  • Offscreen GPU rendering in headless Gamescope: uniform opacity and main-avatar silhouette priority.
  • VPM archive contents and SHA-256 checksum.

Live VRChat and the Windows editor remain untested. The local fixture still logs a VRCFury collider API reflection warning and a vendor DexClone shutdown exception; nxclone assertions and preprocessing pass.

The silhouette shader follows mesh geometry, not texture alpha-cutout holes or vertex displacement. It reserves stencil bits 0 and 1, which can conflict with world shaders/camera effects. Opaque world depth still occludes trails. Constraint-feedback delay remains frame-rate dependent. Recording/playback, interactive limb posing, and Final IK remain outside this preview.
