iPhoneBridge 0.3.0 — Native HEVC preview
Native HEVC mirroring for iPhoneBridge, published as a prerelease while physical recovery checks remain open. Version 0.2.0 remains the latest stable release.
Changes
- Replaces JPEG/VNC/browser video with phone-side VideoToolbox HEVC encoding and native hardware decoding on the Mac.
- Preserves full-resolution lossless screenshots for agents and adds exclusive human/agent input ownership.
- Binds CLI/MCP input to each screenshot's dimensions and generation, rejecting coordinates after rotation even when dimensions stay the same.
- Includes the standalone app, complete corresponding source, and checksums.
Downloads and requirements
- iPhoneBridge-0.3.0-macOS-arm64.zip: unzip and move iPhoneBridge.app into Applications.
- iPhoneBridge-0.3.0-corresponding-source.tar.gz: exact project, phone daemon, Python, native library and USB dependency sources, notices and rebuild instructions.
- SHA256SUMS: checksums for both downloads.
Requires an Apple silicon Mac on macOS 26+, a USB-connected trusted and unlocked jailbroken iPhone on iOS 15.1.1, and existing SSH key access as mobile. Other iOS versions and stock iPhones are unsupported. The app is ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized; macOS may require Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
Verification
- Source commit:
bb7bb7b0ed3896b4e1619bfbb6a0fc857d491c68; version 0.3.0, build 5. - 139 Python tests and 56 Swift tests passed locally; hosted Python/Swift CI and release compilation passed.
- The extracted app ZIP passed deep signature verification and the bundled runtime self-test with only
/usr/bin:/binon PATH. - The extracted native executable hardware-decoded all 590 frames of a retained synthetic fixture stream, with zero errors, at 1170×2532.
- Device and runtime manifests match the exact release sources and dependency inventories. The phone daemon rebuilt successfully from the extracted corresponding-source archive.
Known qualification limits
No iPhone was connected during this release's packaging, so no fresh live connection, input, endurance or recovery claims are made. Earlier native qualification recorded a 22-minute visible run, but the input-latency target remains unmet; physical cable pull, rotation, lock/unlock, genuine encoder invalidation and physical-trackpad checks remain open. The phone's encoder hardware identity is not positively verified on iOS 15.1.1. Mac decoding requires hardware acceleration.
Current feature limits include single-finger input, ASCII typing, SDR sRGB capture, and no audio, multitouch, Display P3/HDR preservation or locked-phone continuity.
iPhoneBridge 0.2.0
A standalone Mac app for live iPhone mirroring over USB, with native Home/App Switcher controls, keyboard input, and a local MCP server.
Download
- iPhoneBridge-0.2.0-macOS-arm64.zip — unzip and move iPhoneBridge.app into Applications. Python, USB utilities, the viewer, and the phone daemon are included.
- iPhoneBridge-0.2.0-corresponding-source.tar.gz — complete app and dependency sources, patches, notices, exact build recipes, and rebuild/replacement instructions.
- SHA256SUMS — checksums for both assets.
Requirements
Apple silicon Mac on macOS 26+; USB-connected, trusted, unlocked jailbroken iPhone on iOS 15.1.1; existing SSH key access as mobile. Tested on iPhone 13 Pro. This does not support stock iPhones.
Open the app to connect. Use Settings… for device selection or a custom SSH key. ⌘1 sends Home and ⌘2 opens App Switcher; drag a card upward to close a phone app. Keep human and agent input separate.
The app is ad-hoc signed and is not Apple-notarized. macOS may require Privacy & Security → Open Anyway after the first launch attempt. Apple's instructions.
Verified
- Hosted CI passes: 48 Python tests, 17 viewer tests, and Swift release compilation.
- Installed app mirrors the real phone; native buttons, shortcuts, settings, reconnect, cleanup, and CLI input were checked live.
- Installed MCP server returns six tools and a verified native screenshot.
- Final ZIP passes signature verification and self-test after extraction with a clean HOME/PATH.
- Device daemon was rebuilt from the accompanying offline source package.
