Export Import using CSV file

We would like to perform bulk update using csv file. To avoid to complete the csv file manually we tried to perform a csv export of the interfaces per example but we can't use the file for upload after we have some issue regarding fields and device name form export. Do you have an idea how to do ?

NetBox export CSV is not an import template. The export adds nested/display columns (device.name, extra labels, read-only fields). The importer wants the bulk-import headers (usually device as the device name, name, type, and the other required columns for that object). Feeding the export file back in is why the upload errors on fields and device name.

Do this instead:

1. Open the Interfaces list > Import.
2. Use the sample headers on that form, not the export file.
3. If you start from an export, delete columns the importer does not list, and rename device.name (or similar) to device.
4. Current NetBox also has a column mapper on import. Map export names onto import names there rather than editing by hand.

For a true round-trip, the REST API (/api/dcim/interfaces/) is less brittle than CSV. CSV is fine once the headers match the import form exactly.
