Will Netlify also offer domain names with no-markup pricing, like Cloudflare, in the near future?

Cloudflare is offering domain names with no-markup pricing. For instance, for a ".com" name I used to pay about $15 per year with my previous registrar service, which went down to $8 with Cloudflare registrar.

This is the reason why many people use a combination of Cloudflare registrar+DNS and Netlify hosting. But it seems preferable to use oly one platform, Netlify, for registrar+DNS+hosting.

Will Netlify also offer domain names with no-markup pricing, like Cloudflare, in the near future?

Netlify currently offers domain names, but they do have a markup: .com is $11 for the first year and $15 after that. Since Netlify isn’t a billion-dollar company (yet!) I’m guessing they need the markup to keep the lights on.

I can't believe that their registrar service is really an important source for making money in their mix of service offerings. Following Cloudflare's policy would help them getting more popular.

No secrets here, folks. I work for Netlify and this is the answer I'd give in the helpdesk if you asked:

1. We resell domains from name.com and the pricing is their price + $2. We're not in it for the money :)
2. We don't mark anything up further; their (name.com) pricing changes year 1 vs year 2 and we only report it to you in our UI.
