Embed Forms 0.2.0 beta 2

Beta 2 fixes one thing found while installing on a site behind Cloudflare. Everything else is the same as beta 1.

  • Form pages now tell Cloudflare's edge cache (APO) not to cache them (cf-edge-cache: no-cache). Each page carries its own signed token, so a cached copy would give every visitor the same token, and submissions would fail once it expired.

Embed Forms 0.2.0 beta 1

First beta of Embed Forms: a form builder for WordPress whose forms embed on any website with one script tag, with payments through USAePay.

Beta: tested on a test site with a simulated USAePay gateway. It has not yet processed a real sandbox or live charge. Try it in USAePay sandbox mode first.

Install

Download embed-forms-0.2.0-beta.1.zip below, then go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin and activate it. If form links return a 404, visit Settings > Permalinks once.

Requirements: WordPress 6.4+ and PHP 8.1+. Payment fields also need USAePay Payments 0.1.2+ with credentials under Settings > USAePay. If GiveWP already takes USAePay payments through another plugin, turn USAePay Payments' GiveWP module off with the usaepay_payments_modules filter (PR #1).

What's in it

  • Embedding: an auto-resizing iframe via a script snippet, a share link, a [embed_form] shortcode, or a plain iframe. The form can be prefilled from the host page's link parameters.
  • Allowed websites: set per form. Browsers refuse to show the form anywhere else, and you can optionally switch off its direct link.
  • Drag-and-drop builder: field settings, conditional logic for fields, sections and pages, multi-step forms, and editing as JSON.
  • Entries: stored in the plugin's own tables (optionally in a separate database), with filters, bulk actions, CSV export, notification and confirmation emails, and merge tags.
  • Spam protection: a signed page token, a hidden bot-catching field, per-visitor rate limits, and Cloudflare Turnstile.
  • Payment fields: amount, product, frequency, total, and a card field using USAePay Pay.js hosted fields, with Apple Pay for one-time payments.
  • Safe charging: the amount is always calculated on the server, and every charge goes through USAePay Payments' Reconcile safeguard so nothing is charged twice. A per-visitor limit on declined cards stops card testing.
  • Recurring payments: weekly, monthly or yearly, charged by the site from the card saved at signup. A declined payment is retried every 3 days, 3 attempts in all, then cancelled. Payers get a receipt for each renewal.
  • Admin: refunds (void, full or partial), cancelling subscriptions, an event history on each entry, a Subscriptions page, and rows in USAePay Payments' Unresolved requests.

Known limits

  • Only USD is supported.
  • Google Pay, webhooks and GiveWP/CiviCRM connectors are not included yet.
  • Apple Pay inside an embedded form needs Safari 17+ and has not been tested on a real device.
