regression: can't set default calendar with created events

Steps to reproduce

1. go to calendar
2. go to settings
3. set "default calendar for incoming invitations" to a non-personal calendar
4. create a new event, observe the calendar the event defaulted to

Expected behavior

I expect the new event to be in the calendar set in the "default calendar" configuration

Actual behavior

is in the personal calendar

this might be a regression of #5790 & the original ask: #1835, seems to be specifically reverted in 4f2caf6

This is not a regression, this is working as expected. "Default calendar for incoming invitations" means the default calendar for a event, when someone invites you as a attendee.

if you follow the link to the original issue #1835 you can see that they're requesting for new events as well:

It would be really nice if I could define a default calendar for creating new events

and the associated PR starts with the verbiage "Default calendar for invitations and new events" (emphasis mine)
