Nextpad++ v1.1.0 — the native macOS port of Notepad++. Universal (Apple Silicon + Intel), notarized, macOS 12 (Monterey) or later.

Two things define 1.1.0: Nextpad++ settles into your Mac — file associations, update notifications, side panels that dock on either side and remember themselves — and the AI plugins arrive: Parakeet, MCP Server, and LuaScript join the catalog (now 60 plugins).

New features

  • File associations — make Nextpad++ the default app for your file types (Preferences → File Associations); choices survive app updates
  • Update notifications — a quiet daily check with an in-app card when a new version is out
  • Side panels, all grown up — dock any panel left or right, per-panel widths, floating panels and plugin panels restore across restarts
  • Printing — ⌘P prints the whole document, paginated, with working Scale
  • Tab bar refinements — richer tab colors, mouse-wheel scrolling, cleaner overflow arrows
  • Document List — configurable columns (right-click the header), live refresh on tab reorder
  • Full Character-sets menu — the complete Windows-parity encoding tree
  • CJK-friendly word wrap — optional natural wrapping for Chinese/Japanese/Korean text (Preferences → Editor)

Search & editing

  • Found matches land in the middle of the window (not hidden behind the scrollbar) and unfold collapsed regions
  • Replace in Files / Projects: honest counts, regex/case/whole-word respected, write failures reported, no-op writes skipped
  • Search results resolve unsaved tabs instead of opening phantom files
  • Word completion fixed for documents with accented/CJK text

Your work is safer

  • Monitoring (tail -f) tabs no longer silently discard unsaved edits
  • Same-named files no longer share one auto-backup; stale backups are quarantined, not deleted
  • Multi-window quit keeps secondary windows' tabs and backups
  • "File changed on disk" waits until you're back in the app and on that tab

Stability

  • No more multi-second freezes navigating large wrapped files
  • Multi-Select and comment commands fixed for non-ASCII documents
  • Red-✗ dialog close no longer freezes the app; Tahoe title-bar double-click zoom restored
  • Git panel: staging failures reported, Stage All deadlock fixed
  • Refreshed app icon (Liquid Glass + classic)

  • Catalog grows 55 → 60: Parakeet AI (on-device voice transcription, meeting capture, summaries, translation), MCP Server (connect Claude/Cursor/any MCP assistant to your open tabs), LuaScript (script the editor), CSV Lint, SmartHighlight
  • Plugin API parity batch: buffer activation/file ops/per-buffer language, open/close notifications, panel-restore declarations, inter-plugin messaging
