Virtual Mac on iPad 1.2 adds support for Final Cut Pro, improves compatibility with Metal games, introduces OpenGL and OpenCL acceleration, and improves system stability.
Pro Apps
- Adds support for pro video apps like Final Cut Pro in Virtual Mac
- Quickly download the latest compatible version of Xcode, Final Cut Pro Trial, Logic Pro Trial, and Pixelmator Pro Trial from the menu bar
Graphics
- Adds support for Mac games like Skate Story and The Long Dark
- Fixes pink graphics in Metal games by introducing native support for BC texture pixel formats (#35, #44)
- Press ctrl+↑, then drag game window out of Mission Control for better performance in windowed mode
- Introduces support for OpenGL and OpenCL acceleration which improves performance in apps like Chess and Preview
- Easily toggle OpenGL and OpenCL acceleration from the menu bar for apps incompatible with runtime library injection such as Hopper Disassembler
- If you’d like to add support for another game, point Codex or Claude Code to the Virtual Mac repo and iterate together, then open a pull request
Stability
- Fixes network connectivity issues on iPadOS 14
- Reduces system freezes when Virtual Mac is under heavy graphics load (#24, #51)
- Fixes Geekbench Metal benchmark on iPad Pro models with 16 GB of RAM (iPad Pro with 8 GB RAM have insufficient VRAM) (#29)
