Release list
MSII - CSS v0.3.2
Fixed
- Fix Tiel's dagger and Eredrim's diapason floating near the feet when a CSS outfit lacks their attachment bones. Tested with Long Hair Proxima.
- Keep corrected attachments working when drawing or stowing the item, switching shells and returning to Original appearance.
Upgrading
Close the game and extract MSII-CSS-v0.3.2.zip into MortalShell2/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/Mods/, replacing the CSS runtime files. Keep CustomShellSystem/state/, CSSX, extensions and your installed outfit packages.
Only CSS needs updating. Existing CSS outfit and port ZIPs do not need repacking. CSSX, UI Kit and Cheat Menu remain at 0.3.0.
The separate reports of a stuck material-effect warning after portals and crashes after shell switching remain under investigation. This update does not claim to fix them.
MSII - CSS v0.3.1
Fixed
- Fix white, shredded-looking body trails during dodges with CSS outfits while preserving the normal translucent dodge trail.
- Keep standalone cloth-driver materials intact when preparing outfit materials.
Upgrading
Close the game and extract MSII-CSS-v0.3.1.zip into MortalShell2/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/Mods/, replacing the CSS runtime files. Keep CustomShellSystem/state/ and your installed outfit packages.
Existing CSS outfits and ports remain compatible. Their ZIPs do not need updating or repacking.
CSSX, CSSX UI Kit and CSSX Cheat Menu remain at 0.3.0. Keep them installed; this patch does not change their extension interface or require an update.
The separate Seductress V1/V2 blood-coverage issue has been traced to the skin texture mask. It is not fixed in this release, and neither outfit package has been changed. Deferred attachment, cloth/foot alignment and HIT2 aiming issues also remain.
The dodge correction was tested in-game on Steam build 25265616 and confirmed by _eins0fx. Material checks covered one variant of each of the nine installed outfits. Older game-build adapters are retained; this does not establish a fresh test on older executables or every outfit variant.
MSII - CSS v0.3.0
Added
- Optional CSSX tab beside CSS, with a 3 by 3 extension library and shared menus for C++ and Lua extensions.
- Separate CSSX UI Kit technology preview and native CSSX Cheat Menu downloads.
- CSSX SDK guide, Lua and C++ starter examples, packaging utility, managed settings and rotating extension logs.
Changed
- Reuse valid color materials when portals, launch points and gameplay shell changes refresh an appearance.
- Keep existing CSS outfit ZIPs and saved wardrobe choices compatible. Outfits do not need repacking.
Fixed
- Recover CSS appearance after the game replaces a selected mesh or empties its material overrides.
- Remove owned color overrides left in extra material slots after changing gameplay shells.
- Recover the observed completed-intro restriction that left an equipped weapon attacking while stowed, without clearing unrelated story locks.
- Apply and restore Cheat Menu movement speeds without rewriting unrelated character data.
Upgrading
Close the game. Extract CSS into MortalShell2/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/Mods/, replacing its runtime files. Keep CustomShellSystem/state/.
CSSX is optional. Extract its ZIP inside CustomShellSystem/. Extract each extension folder into CustomShellSystem/extensions/. Install both CSS and CSSX before using an extension. All four downloads use version 0.3.0.
Before using CSSX Cheat Menu, disable or remove the original MortalShell2Mod, then restart the game. The port credits DevToolsMaster and retains the supplied MIT license. Cheats start off; apply settings explicitly. Progression grants can change the game save.
Open Inventory and select CSS or CSSX. Outfit-specific cloth, missing attachment bones, dodge shadows and HIT2 aiming reports remain under investigation or deferred. Older game-build adapters are retained, but this release's fresh live checks used Steam build 25265616. See the repository verification notes for remaining gameplay cases.
MSII - CSS v0.2.0
Added
- Open CSS directly from the game's Inventory menu, between Inventory and Tarstones.
- Browse Shell, Color and Templates sections with native fonts, button prompts, outfit thumbnails and scrolling lists.
- Save named appearance templates, load them, replace them or delete them.
- Use the modding guide and project utility to prepare outfit packages, group mesh variants and configure colors. Source tools are separate from the runtime ZIP.
Changed
- Use the game's Inventory character display, lighting and camera instead of the separate wardrobe preview.
- Rotate with right-stick left/right, zoom with right-stick up/down, and move framing with the left stick. Mouse users can right-drag to rotate, scroll to zoom and left-drag to frame the character.
- Reset the view with right-stick click, Home or the Reset view button.
- Match menu transitions and keep action prompts beside the list or panel they control.
Removed
- Remove the standalone N wardrobe and its View/Back + Y shortcut. Open Inventory and select CSS instead.
Fixed
- Replace the misleading "CSS is off" startup message with guidance for selecting an outfit or installing missing packages.
- Find outfit packages from the game's content directory, independently of a custom UE4SS Mods folder.
- Smooth character rotation across full turns and restore the native camera when leaving CSS.
- Keep long outfit and variant names from overlapping the Equipped label.
Upgrading
Close the game and extract CustomShellSystem into MortalShell2/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/Mods/, replacing the existing runtime files. Keep CustomShellSystem/state/ to retain your choices, favorites, colors and saved looks, now shown under Templates.
Existing CSS.Package v1 outfit ZIPs remain compatible. BeauteGenessa, BeauteKnightLady, HIT2, Seductress and the other converted CSS bundles do not need repacking. Keep them installed under MortalShell2/Content/Paks/~mods/. Update the CSS runtime to this ZIP.
Open Inventory → CSS after entering the game world. With default bindings, use I, then Q/E or click CSS. On controller, open Inventory normally and use LB/RB to select CSS. LT/RT or Z/X switches Shell, Color and Templates. The page shows the remaining controls.
Requires UE4SS v3.0.1-1028-gd7e7826d with the GameShippingWin64 ABI. Other UE4SS builds and storefront binaries have not been verified.
The runtime ZIP includes one loader DLL, one core DLL and the required logo. It includes no outfit assets, personal state, caches or development cores. Outfit-specific physics, clipping, longer combat/travel sessions and more display/controller combinations still need broader testing.
The converter handles compatible cooked Mortal Shell II outfits. Some source mods need material, dependency or color-mask adjustments and in-game checks. The guide includes current limits; it does not turn arbitrary meshes from another game into ready-to-use outfits.
MSII - CSS v0.1.2
Added
- Scroll through the full appearance list with the mouse wheel or scrollbar. Controller navigation keeps the selected row visible.
- Support different materials, color parts and palettes for each outfit variant in a CSS package.
Fixed
- Restore the selected appearance after beacon travel and player transitions, while waiting for game-owned effects and menus to finish.
- Keep loaded outfit assets alive while loading their material overrides.
- Verify and regenerate packaged color resources used by every variant.
Upgrading
Close Mortal Shell II and extract CustomShellSystem into MortalShell2/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/Mods/, replacing the existing runtime files. Keep your state/ folder to retain favorites, saved looks and colors.
The ZIP contains one loader DLL, one core DLL and the required wardrobe artwork. No personal settings, saved state, development cores or outfit packages are included. Existing CSS outfit packages remain supported; packages with variant-specific colors require this update.
Requires UE4SS v3.0.1-1028-gd7e7826d with the GameShippingWin64 ABI. Install outfit packages separately under MortalShell2/Content/Paks/~mods/. Press N or View/Back + Y to open CSS after loading a save.
The wardrobe preview can still differ from gameplay and inventory lighting. That issue remains open.
The Python converter is available in the source, with package instructions and a variant workflow. It converts compatible cooked Mortal Shell II outfit packs; some mods need material, dependency or color-mask adjustments and in-game testing.
I'll publish a full CSS modding guide once the framework and package format are stable.
MSII - CSS v0.1.1
Native C++ wardrobe for Mortal Shell II. Change appearances while keeping your current shell and abilities.
- Outfit variants, favorites and saved looks.
- Per-part colors and palettes for compatible CSS packages.
- Animated preview with mouse and controller camera controls.
- Fixed stock materials appearing on custom outfits in inventory.
- Fresh installs create their own settings. No personal state or saves are bundled.
Extract CustomShellSystem into MortalShell2/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/Mods/ with the game closed. Load a save and press N, or View/Back + Y on a controller.
Requires the UE4SS v3.0.1-1028-gd7e7826d GameShippingWin64 ABI. UE4SS and outfit packages are separate downloads. The ZIP contains one loader DLL and one core DLL.
The wardrobe lighting difference remains a known issue. The unverified lighting trial is not included in 0.1.1.
