What's new in 1.2.0

• The daily summary now arrives when you come back to your Mac after a few hours away, instead of firing at a fixed hour a sleeping Mac can miss. The timing is learned from your own rhythm; nothing to configure.
• Settings > Notifications now shows the digest timing read-only: last summary posted and reminders scheduled.
• When Apple Intelligence is off, typing a sentence into search shows a plain explanation row instead of failing silently. Settings > Language carries the status with a one-click path to System Settings.

nCompHunt 1.1.0

The biggest update since launch: nCompHunt learns what fits you, reminds you only about what you marked, and understands plain sentences. Free, as always.

Fit: the app learns what is worth your weekend

• Profile (Settings > Profile): interest weights, weekly hours, prize floor, preferred region, Codeforces handle - or let the app suggest weights from your marking history, only when you ask.
• Explainable fit score on every competition: 0-100 with the reasons listed, never a black box. Sort by Best fit, see the verdict in the detail pane and table.
• Calendar-aware: with calendar access granted, busy weeks lower the fit of overlapping contests. The app's own calendar never conflicts with itself.
• Top pick leads: the menu bar and the widget open with your best-fit upcoming competition and why.

Notifications that respect you

• Nothing unmarked ever notifies. Mark a competition (Interested / Applied / Joined) and it earns reminders 1 day and 1 hour before its deadline. Done or Dropped stops the reminders, keeps the mark.
• One morning digest (08:00, changeable): what closes this week, what is running, what is new. A quiet morning sends nothing.
• Visible truth: Settings shows the OS permission state, a jump straight to the app's notification pane, and exactly what is queued - including the next digest's fire time.

Search that reads sentences

• A real query language: category:ctf region:vietnam deadline:30 status:any, fuzzy matching, scored results - words find things, they never reorder your index.
• Ask in plain language: type a sentence and an on-device Apple Intelligence suggestion row offers the interpreted filters - you accept it or ignore it, nothing applies itself. No API key, nothing leaves the Mac.

The system knows your competitions now

• Siri and Shortcuts: "next CTF in nCompHunt", upcoming lists as entities you can pipe through Shortcuts (including the macOS 26 "Use Model" action).
• Spotlight: competitions are indexed and open straight to their row.

Design

• Dashboard redesigned: the brand gradient as a slowly breathing mesh hero over monochrome stats, then storage-pane calm - composition bars, quiet tables.
• One motion vocabulary: numbers roll everywhere a countdown ticks, rows glide instead of teleporting, the star bounces once. Everything respects Reduce Motion.
• Automatic translation: a competition in a language you do not read opens translated (on-device), original one click away, with a soft morph between the two.

nCompHunt 1.0.0

nCompHunt 1.0.0 is the first stable release: contests can now land straight in your calendar, API keys live in the macOS Keychain behind a proper Settings pane, and the whole app runs sandboxed.

New in 1.0.0:

• Calendar sync: turn it on in Settings and upcoming competitions appear in a dedicated nCompHunt calendar that keeps itself current on every refresh - new contests, date changes, and removals included. An existing nCompHunt calendar is adopted instead of duplicated.
• API Keys in Settings: clist.by, Brave Search, and Google CSE keys are entered in the new API Keys section - or imported from an existing secrets.yml in one click - and stored in the macOS Keychain. No more hand-editing config files.
• App Sandbox: the app now runs fully sandboxed.

Upgrading from 0.3.0: the sandbox gives the app a fresh container, so the contest index rebuilds on the first refresh, and file-based secrets.yml keys should be imported once via Settings > API Keys.

nCompHunt 0.3.0 brings two native-macOS surfaces - a live menu-bar countdown and a desktop widget - plus a fix so Vietnam competitions show up across every category.

New in 0.3.0:

• Menu bar shows a live countdown to your next contest (e.g. "CTF 2h14m"), respecting the active category and region filter.
• Desktop and Notification Center widget (small and medium) listing upcoming contests with a live time-to-start; click a row to jump straight to it in the app.
