OutageWatch 0.2.5

Alerts are now about your address, not just your area.

• Address-only by default. A saved place now only alerts you when an outage actually reaches it, not merely when something is nearby.
• "Use my current location" saves your exact spot as an address, so it alerts only when an outage covers it.
• Nearby area alerts are opt-in. Turn them on per place in Settings if you also want to hear about outages around a place; one tap to turn them back off. Saving a whole ZIP is still an area watch.
• Existing watches were switched to address-only on update, so the "outage nearby" notifications stop. Re-enable area alerts per place any time in Settings.
• New-version notifications. The app now tells you when a new version is out, even when it is closed.

Install: download the APK below. Android may warn it has not seen this developer the first time; tap More details, then Install anyway.

OutageWatch 0.2.4

Pull down on any screen to refresh, and the app now keeps outage status current on its own so you never look at stale data.

What is new

• Pull to refresh on the home, area, and outage screens.
• Automatic refresh when you reopen the app and while a screen stays open, so status stays live without you doing anything.
• A dropped connection no longer clears the screen or shows a false "all clear". Your last known status stays put until fresh data arrives.

Download OutageWatch-0.2.4.apk below and open it on your Android phone. If you already have OutageWatch installed, this updates it in place.

Heads up about the Play Protect warning
The first time you open the APK, Android may say it "hasn't seen an app from this developer before." That is expected for any app installed outside the Play Store, not a sign of a problem. OutageWatch is signed and asks only for internet, notifications, and approximate location. Tap More details, then Install anyway to continue. This goes away once the app is on the Play Store (planned for August 2026).
