The same animation, now tuned to each device out of the box.

Improved

  • The animation is tuned per device. The number of bands follows the panel size, so the 7-inch Libra Colour (and Libra 2) get more bands than the 6-inch Clara devices and the wipe reads at a comparable pace on each. The Libra Colour in particular is noticeably smoother.
  • Crisper bands on colour (Kaleido) devices. The Libra Colour and Clara Colour now sweep with a Kaleido B&W-optimised waveform, so the wipe looks sharper and turns a touch faster. Black-and-white devices are unchanged.

Changed

  • nds_strips now defaults to a per-device value (12 bands on 7-inch panels, 10 on 6-inch) instead of a fixed 8. Set it in the config to override, exactly as before.

Install: copy KoboRoot.tgz to the Kobo's hidden .kobo folder, eject, and reboot. Settings are in KOBOeReader/.adds/nickel-dissolve/config; see the README.

Uninstall: delete KOBOeReader/.adds/nickel-dissolve/uninstall and reboot.
