We are a small team which has been developing since december 2025 the Nihonium programming language, a hybrid, high-level, dynamically typed, imperative and functional programming language. It all started in july 2024, when project leader and founder Younes Bendimerad (aka ixodev) started at the age of 14 to write an interpreter for his own programming language named I++.
One year and a half later, the Nihonium project started.
Firstly a language with simple arithmetic, expressions, scopes, variables and functions, it developed itself into a modern language which supports some functional programming features, such as lambda functions, composition of and operators on lambda functions, a python FFI, native symbols, complex numbers, and more!
Since june 2026, we've been developing a small VM for Nihonium too. It will soon be available.
