🧬 ASTPredict v1.0.0 - Production Release

We are excited to present the production-ready release of ASTPredict, a robust offline mobile application designed to detect and classify 24 species of veterinary-relevant bacterial pathogens directly from agar culture plate photographs.

Built completely offline for One Health diagnostics, ASTPredict runs a high-performance YOLOv8 deep learning model entirely on-device, requiring no internet connectivity.

🌟 Key Features

  • Offline Deep Learning Inference: High-precision bacteriological colony classification powered by an integrated best_float32.tflite model.
  • Interactive Live Camera Preview: Designed with CameraX and custom petri dish alignment guide overlays to optimize photo capture angles and consistency.
  • Local Persistence (Room SQLite): Safely saves plate history, diagnostic metrics, timestamps, and species counts.
  • Configurable ML Thresholds: Adjust Confidence, Intersection over Union (IoU) limits, and Maximum Detection parameters on the fly under Settings.

🧬 Detectable Pathogen Species (24 Pathogens)

ASTPredict is optimized to detect major animal pathogens, assisting in fast diagnostic workflows including:

  • Staphylococcus aureus (Bovine mastitis, MRSA)
  • Escherichia coli (Enteric/calf scours)
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Opportunistic wound pathogen)
  • Rhodococcus equi (Equine bronchopneumonia)
  • Salmonella enterica (Zoonotic salmonellosis)
  • ...and 19 other clinically significant veterinary pathotypes.

📦 Installation Guide (Sideloading)

  1. Download the pre-compiled app-release.apk attached below.
  2. Transfer it to your Android device (running Android 8.0 Oreo / API 26 or higher).
  3. Open the .apk file using any File Manager and allow the system permission to Install Unknown Apps.
