Jubako 0.4.5
Jubako 0.4.5
Changed
- The Contacts template puts each contact in a group. A new groups table holds Family, Friends, Neighbours, Work and Services, and a contact's Group is a lookup into it: pick the group from a list in the form, rename a group and its contacts follow, and a group that still has contacts cannot be deleted by accident. A new Contacts by group report lists contacts under each group.
Every template now comes with its tables connected: contacts to groups, items to suppliers, tasks to projects, tickets to customers, loans to who has them.
Databases made from the Contacts template before 0.4.5 have no Group field; add one with Add field, "A row of another table".

Changed
- The Home collection template ties each loan to the person who has it. A new people table holds each person's name and phone, and an item's Lent to is a lookup into it: pick who borrowed it from a list in the form, and someone who still has something of yours cannot be deleted by accident. Things that are not lent out stay blank.
Fixed
- Who has what lists loans by who has them. The report follows the Lent out view, which had no sort, so loans came out in the order they were added. The view now sorts by who has the item, then by title.
Databases made from the Home collection template before 0.4.4 keep Lent to as words; turn it into a lookup with Lookup… in Fields.
Install

Changed
- The Inventory template ties each item to its supplier. A new suppliers table holds each supplier's name, email and phone, and an item's Supplier is a lookup into it: pick the supplier from a list in the form, rename a supplier and their items follow, and a supplier who still has items cannot be deleted by accident. A new Stock by supplier report groups items under each supplier and totals the stock.
Fixed
- A new Customer service database opens on its tickets again. In 0.4.2 it opened on the customers table. A template now opens on its main table: tickets for Customer service, items for Inventory.
Databases made from the Inventory template before 0.4.3 keep Supplier as words; turn it into a lookup with Lookup… in Fields.
Install
sudo pacman -U jubako-0.4.3-1-any.pkg.tar.zst # Arch, Omarchy
sudo apt install ./jubako_0.4.3-1_all.deb # Debian 13+, Ubuntu 26.04+

Changed
- The Customer service template ties each ticket to its customer. A new customers table holds each customer's name and email, and a ticket's Customer is a lookup into it: pick the customer from a list in the form, rename a customer and their tickets follow, and a customer who still has tickets cannot be deleted by accident. A new Tickets by customer report groups tickets under each customer.
- Agents: the MCP server refuses arguments a tool does not take. Before, an argument a tool did not know was dropped quietly, so
list_rowswithwhereinstead offilterreturned every row as if filtered. Now nothing runs, and the error names the argument, suggests the right one (filterforwhere), and lists what the tool takes.
Databases made from the Customer service template before 0.4.2 keep Customer as words; turn it into a lookup with Lookup… in Fields.
Install
sudo pacman -U jubako-0.4.2-1-any.pkg.tar.zst # Arch, Omarchy

Changed
- The Projects and tasks template ties each task to its project. A task's Project is now a lookup into the projects table: pick the project from a list in the form, rename a project and its tasks follow, and a project that still has tasks cannot be deleted by accident. Project names are no repeats, so a typed name always finds one project.
Databases made from the template before 0.4.1 keep Project as words; turn it into a lookup with Lookup… in Fields.

Connect your tables.
New
- Lookup fields. A field can point at a row of another table: an order's Item is a row of products, shown by its Product name. Rename the product and every order shows the new name.
- Turn a column of names into a lookup in one step, from Lookup… in Fields. Each name is matched to the other table (case and spaces at the ends do not matter). Names that match nothing are listed, and Jubako can add them for you; names two rows share are refused, so nothing is matched to the wrong row.
- Add a lookup field from Add field: "A row of another table", then which table and which of its fields to show.
- Pick from a list in the form; type a name in the grid. A name that matches nothing, or matches two rows, is refused in plain words (
#12means row 12). - Filter and sort by the name ("Item contains bike", A to Z).
- Protected: a product that orders still point at cannot be deleted, and Jubako says how many orders point at it. The products table, and the field a lookup shows, cannot be deleted while a lookup uses them; renaming that field is followed.
- Reports, exports and summaries show the names.
- Command line and MCP:
jubako lookup PATH TABLE FIELD --to TABLE --show FIELD [--add-missing]; the MCPadd_fieldtool takestype: lookup, and a newmake_lookuptool turns a column into a lookup (37 tools).
Works the same on a database file, PostgreSQL and MySQL / MariaDB.

The Microsoft Access features worth having, without the hard parts.
New
- Start from a template. Contacts, Inventory, Projects and tasks, Customer service, Home collection. Each comes with its tables, saved views and reports, and a few made-up example rows if you want them. On Home, in New database,
jubako new --template, and the MCP server. - Ask your rows a question. Compare numbers and dates ("is more than 3000", "is after 2026-03-31"), "starts with" for words, and several rules matched all ("and") or any ("or").
- Sort. Tap a column heading: up, down, off. Blanks always go last. Saved views keep their sort as well as their rules.
- All of them at once. For the rows a filter finds (or every row): change a field in all of them, delete them, or see what they add up to (totals, averages, lowest and highest, earliest and latest). Jubako says how many rows first.
- Reports with groups and totals. Sort a report, group it with a heading and a row count per group, sum or average the number columns, add your own header and footer, or print straight from a saved view.
- Arrange the form. Field order, what each is called, which to leave out (hidden fields keep their values), and a title. Duplicate starts a new row from the one on screen.
- No repeats. Mark a field like an email or a product code so no two rows can share a value. Refused in plain words, naming the values, while some already repeat.
- Tables made elsewhere can be read, and get Add a row number so they can be edited too.
- The Database menu: New, New from a template, Open, Recent, Save a copy (safe while the database is open), Rename, Close, Delete.
- Command line and MCP:
templates,set,delete-rows,summary,unique,add-row-number,copy,rename; repeatable--filterwith--any, and--sort. The MCP server has 36 tools.
Fixed
- PostgreSQL: every yes/no filter failed (
boolean = smallint). - MySQL / MariaDB: every "contains" filter failed with a syntax error.
- Saved views and reports with a date rule could not be saved.
- The filter bar showed "3000.0" for 3000 on a decimal field.
- The form's Previous and Next could stay greyed out on every row.
- A table made outside Jubako with no
idshowed "id" as every row's number, and editing it failed. scripts/smoke_remote.pyruns again.

Jubako 0.2.0
Jubako 0.2.0
Omarchy-DB has a new name: Jubako. A jūbako is the stacked Japanese lunch box: one box, several tiers. Jubako is one file with several tables.
Changed
- New name everywhere. The commands are now
jubako,jubako-appandjubako-mcp. Environment variables start withJUBAKO_. - New databases are
.jubadbfiles. Your.omadbfiles still open. The first time each one is opened, Jubako quietly brings it up to date, and your saved views, forms and reports come with it. Server databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) are updated the same way. - Your recent databases come with you.
~/.local/state/omarchy-dbmoves to~/.local/state/jubakothe first time Jubako runs.
New
-
Packages for Arch (and Omarchy), Debian / Ubuntu, and Fedora, attached below. Each one installs the window, the command line and the MCP server, puts Jubako in your app launcher, and pulls Python and Qt from your distro.
sudo pacman -U jubako-0.2.0-1-any.pkg.tar.zst # Arch, Omarchy sudo apt install ./jubako_0.2.0-1_all.deb # Debian 13+, Ubuntu 26.04+ sudo dnf install ./jubako-0.2.0-1.noarch.rpm # Fedora 44+
Fixed
- The Views menu opens leftwards and fits its rows.
- Safer MySQL driver: needs PyMySQL 1.1.1 or newer (CVE-2024-36039).
If you used Omarchy-DB
- An agent or MCP client set up with
omarchy-db-mcpshould now usejubako-mcp. - The GitHub repo moved to
ninepointlabs/jubako. The old address redirects.

Omarchy-DB 0.1.1
Omarchy-DB 0.1.1
A small fix release.
Fixed
- The window now follows your Omarchy theme everywhere. Dialogs, text boxes and plain labels used Qt's stock palette instead of your theme: grey dialogs on dark themes, white text on light ones. Light themes like Catppuccin Latte now look right.
- Whole numbers read cleanly.
3350instead of3350.0in the grid and in reports. - Form yes/no boxes line up with the other fields instead of floating mid-row.
- The filter bar starts fresh when you move to a table with no filter, instead of keeping the last table's rule.
Also
- The README has screenshots.

0.1.0
Omarchy-DB 0.1.0
First public release. A simple Access-like database for your own computer on Omarchy Linux — one local file, no server, no account.
What works
- Local database file (
.omadb) — create, open, copy, back up - Import CSV or Excel, including workbooks with several sheets (opt-in: every sheet as its own table)
- Grid and form editing — browse, add, change, and delete rows
- Fields — add, rename, delete; types include words, numbers, dates, and yes/no
- Filters — “Show rows where…” on the grid and the form
- Saved views — named filters kept in the database file (optional default when a table opens)
- Reports — preview, print, and PDF that fit the page
- Export — CSV, Excel, PDF
- Agents — MCP server and CLI for the same jobs
Known gaps (fine for dogfooding; not blockers)
- Column sort in the grid
- Picking a saved view by name from the report dialog
- Live Postgres / MySQL connect still needs a real-world proof
- Packaging install (
.desktop/ Phase C) not shipped yet
Try it
See the README for install and first-run steps. Point it at a spreadsheet, make a field or two, save a view, print a short report.
