Release list
Dayside 1.0.1
This download contains the full Dayside app for Apple silicon Macs. An Intel package is not included in this release.
The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
Changes:
- The Earth window gives its memory back when you close it. In a Release build, 60 seconds after the window closed, Dayside used about 38 MB, down from about 42 MB in 1.0.
- In Russian and Polish, a country name after a time is now read in its inflected form, such as "в Канаде" or "w Niemczech". "East Coast time" and "West Coast time" read as US Eastern and Pacific time, and "9am in the Office" no longer resolves to an airport.
- More country names are recognized. A country with several time zones starts at its biggest city's clock.
- A month and day without a year means the nearest one at most a month back. On January 5, "Dec 20" is last December. "Feb 29" means the next February 29.
- For one hour a day, places on opposite sides of the date line are two calendar days apart. They are now labeled "two days later" or "two days earlier" instead of "next day" or "previous day".
- The night side of the map lights big metro areas. Before, a city needed about a million people inside its own limits, so most US metro areas stayed dark. The map now has 592 lights instead of 392.
- On the Earth map, the arrow keys step to whole hours across half-hour clock changes, as on Lord Howe Island.
- When a time does not exist because the clock jumps at midnight, as in Nuuk, the message names the skipped hour.
- Six Chinese interface strings now use the same words as the rest of the app.

Dayside 1.0
This download contains the full Dayside app for Apple silicon Macs. The Intel build is not included in this release because its runtime checks are unfinished.
The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
Changes:
- Click the city search field and type normally.
- Keep saved places, menu bar settings, and awake hours after quitting, relaunching, and logging out of macOS.
- Fix the Earth image buffer lifetime during full-screen copying and closing.
- Find Los Angeles with
la, New York withniuyue, Tokyo with东京都, and Iğdır withığdır. Complete city names no longer put unrelated prefix aliases among the first results. - Ask questions such as
what time is it in Tokyoto see the time there now. - Speed up time reading. All three fixtures passed the existing 2 ms benchmark in three consecutive Mac runs, with median times from 0.443 to 0.721 ms.
The Earth window can retain extra memory after closing. This remains a known issue. See the README for the other known limitations.
