v0.5.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 05:41

NioDE Server 0.5.3

Deploy NioDE with new Koyeb and GitHub Codespaces launch buttons, plus a
Fly.io deployment walkthrough. Codespaces installs the released server and
Nio chat CLI automatically and starts an authenticated server on port 1421.
The startup hook prevents duplicate server processes and protects pairing logs.

The README now documents Koyeb's free-instance limits, Codespaces quotas,
and Railway's explicit persistent-volume setup. CodeSandbox deployment
instructions have been removed.

Install

npx @nio-labs/nio-de

Or install globally:

npm install -g @nio-labs/nio-de
nio-de

Linux/macOS native installer:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nio-labs/nio-de/main/install.sh | bash
nio-de

The server prints a pairing code for NioDE. Use --token or NIO_DE_TOKEN
for a fixed token. npm publication follows the native release.

Native artifacts

Platforms: Linux x86_64/aarch64, macOS x86_64/aarch64, and Windows x86_64.
Each platform provides nio-de, port-forward, code-vault, http-request,
canvas-lab, and file-manager. Windows files end in .exe.
SHA256SUMS covers all 30 binaries.

Full Changelog: v0.5.2...v0.5.3

v0.5.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 15:07

NioDE Server 0.5.2

NioAI is now installed from @nio-labs/nio-ai. The nio command is unchanged.
This updates the npm launcher, shell installer, Docker image, and in-app agent
installer so they no longer depend on the removed unscoped nio-ai package.

Install

npx @nio-labs/nio-de

Or install globally:

npm install -g @nio-labs/nio-de
nio-de

Linux/macOS native installer:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nio-labs/nio-de/main/install.sh | bash
nio-de

The server prints a pairing code for NioDE. Use --token or NIO_DE_TOKEN
for a fixed token. npm publication follows the native release.

Native artifacts

Platforms: Linux x86_64/aarch64, macOS x86_64/aarch64, and Windows x86_64.
Each platform provides nio-de, port-forward, code-vault, http-request,
canvas-lab, and file-manager. Windows files end in .exe.
SHA256SUMS covers all 30 binaries.

Full Changelog: v0.5.1...v0.5.2

v0.5.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 14:31

NioDE Server 0.5.1

Removes the temporary NoIDE compatibility layer. The executable and npm command
are now nio-de only. Legacy noide-server launchers, release aliases, and npm
bridge packaging have been removed.

Use NIO_DE_TOKEN, NIO_DE_WS_ADDR, NIO_DE_NO_CLOUDFLARE,
NIO_DE_PTY_KEEP_ALIVE, NIO_DE_INSTALL_DIR, and NIO_DE_SERVER_BIN.
The former NOIDE_* variables and NOTERM_WS_ADDR are no longer read.
CLI token/port options continue to override environment configuration.

Existing workspace data, browser settings, database paths and WebSocket messages
are retained. The nio AI agent and supporting tool commands are unchanged.

Install

Linux/macOS:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nio-labs/nio-de/main/install.sh | bash
nio-de

The server prints a pairing code for the NioDE app. A fixed token can be supplied
with --token or NIO_DE_TOKEN. The native release is published before its npm
package; after npm publication, use npx @nio-labs/nio-de or npm install -g @nio-labs/nio-de.

Native artifacts

Platforms: Linux x86_64/aarch64, macOS x86_64/aarch64, and Windows x86_64.
Each platform provides nio-de, port-forward, code-vault, http-request,
canvas-lab, and file-manager. Windows files end in .exe.
SHA256SUMS covers all 30 binaries.

Validation

Backend CI passed all five platform builds, formatting, Rust tests, and clippy.
Protocol smoke checks cover pairing, fixed tokens, NIO_DE configuration, CLI
overrides, and rejection of legacy token settings. App CI passed its frontend
build/tests and embedded backend checks. Native mobile and Docker builds were not
run as part of this cleanup.

v0.4.2 — 1-Click Railway Deployment & Mandatory NioAI Agent Bundling

Bumps version to v0.4.2, introduces 1-Click Railway cloud deployment with persistent storage volume support, auto-detects dynamic $PORT environments, and bundles the nio-ai agent into both install.sh and npx nio-de with reliable native curl fallbacks.

Highlights

  • ☁️ 1-Click Deploy to Railway: Deploy your personal NioDE cloud development server with a single click:
    • Multi-stage Docker container with essential developer tooling (git, bash, python3, nodejs, npm, openssh).
    • Persistent storage volume support at /workspace so cloned repositories and project files survive redeploys.
    • Automatic dynamic $PORT binding and cloud platform detection (RAILWAY_ENVIRONMENT, NIO_DE_NO_CLOUDFLARE).
    • Pre-installed AI agent CLIs: nio-ai, @kilocode/cli (kilo), and opencode-ai (opencode).
    • Single connection secret via NIO_DE_TOKEN with automatic SSL termination (wss://).
  • 🤖 Mandatory NioAI Agent Bundling (nio-ai):
    • install.sh: Automatically checks and installs nio-ai. Tries npm install -g nio-ai first, then falls back directly to the native installer (curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nio-labs/nio/main/install.sh | bash).
    • npx nio-de: The zero-install npm runner verifies nio availability and provisions it into ~/.nio/bin/nio with curl / PowerShell fallback if missing.
    • Backend Agent Search: Added ~/.nio/bin and ~/.cargo/bin to nio-de's native agent search directories, and added install_agent support for nio-ai.
  • Crate & Monorepo Synchronization: Synchronized and bumped all companion tools (canvas-lab, code-vault, file-manager, http-request, port-forward) to v0.4.2.

v0.4.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 04:08

v0.4.1 — Zero-Install via npx & CI Stabilization

Fixes CI formatting verification (cargo fmt --check), bumps version across all workspace crates and npm package, and stabilizes the automated release pipeline.

Highlights

  • npx noide-server (Zero-install launch): Launch noide-server directly on any host, VPS, or desktop with a single command:
    npx noide-server
Auto-detects OS & CPU architecture (Linux x86_64/ARM64, macOS Apple Silicon/Intel, Windows x86_64), downloads the verified native binary matching the release SHA-256 checksum, caches it locally, and launches the server.
  • npm Package Distribution: Published as noide-server on npm with a lightweight, zero-dependency native launcher.
  • Code Formatting & CI Fix: Fully formatted according to Rust style guidelines (cargo fmt --check) across all workspace crates.
  • Process Group & Agent Lifecycle: Improved Unix process group termination for background chat agents and companion processes to ensure clean teardown on exit.
  • WebSocket Protocol & Sync Updates: Core backend stability updates and crate optimizations synced from the primary monorepo.
  • Automated Release Pipeline: GitHub Actions packages and verifies checksums for all platform binaries (noide-server, port-forward, code-vault, http-request, canvas-lab, file-manager) and publishes to npm automatically.

v0.3.10

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Sep 14:38

v0.3.10 — File Manager

Adds a new standalone binary: file-manager for browsing, uploading,
downloading, and managing files on the server via a local HTTP server.

Highlights

  • File Manager. A new file-manager binary for browsing, uploading,
downloading, and managing files on the server. Features include directory
listing, file read/write, rename, delete, and MIME type detection.
Install with bash install.sh --file-manager or bash install.sh --all.
  • Code Vault & HTTP Request CI. The code-vault and http-request
binaries are now fully built, packaged, checksummed, and verified for
every supported platform — they were documented in v0.3.5 but never
    actually shipped.
  • Improved folder browser. The Open Folder dialog now defaults to / on
first launch and handles directory listing errors gracefully (e.g.
permission-denied subdirectories no longer break the entire listing).
  • Go-to-definition fix. Ctrl+click navigation to definitions in other
files now scrolls to the correct line.
  • Git panel. Stage/Discard/Diff action buttons are now always visible
on each changed file row (no hover required).
  • Release artifacts. All five binaries — noide-server, port-forward,
    code-vault, http-request, and file-manager — are now built and
attached to every release, with a SHA256SUMS manifest covering all of them.
  • Cloudflare Quick Tunnel URL. Now reported as wss:// (the tunnel speaks
WebSocket over the tunnel), so clients connect correctly.
  • New commands. check_code_vault, install_code_vault,
    start_code_vault, stop_code_vault, code_vault_request,
    check_http_request, install_http_request, start_http_request,
    stop_http_request, http_request_request.

Install

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/n-o-ide/noide-server/main/install.sh | bash

Re-running upgrades you to the newest release. Pin a version with
VERSION=0.3.10.

To install all binaries:

bash install.sh --all

Or install individually:

bash install.sh --port-forward
bash install.sh --code-vault
bash install.sh --http-request
bash install.sh --file-manager

Windows note

SmartScreen may warn about an unsigned binary — click More info → Run anyway,
or verify against the published SHA256SUMS before running.

macOS note

Downloaded binaries are quarantined by Gatekeeper. If you see
"cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified", remove the
quarantine attribute once:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "$(command -v noide-server)"
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "$(command -v port-forward)"
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "$(command -v code-vault)"
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "$(command -v http-request)"
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "$(command -v file-manager)"

Run

noide-server

On startup you get the usual pairing code + QR plus a Cloudflare tunnel URL
if the download succeeds. Enter the pairing code in the NoIDE app
(Settings → Server) and connect.

noide-server --no-cloudflare

Use --no-cloudflare (or set up Caddy/nginx as in the README) when you already
have a wss:// path.

Assets

This release ships pre-built binaries for all four components — noide-server,
port-forward, code-vault, and http-request — plus a SHA256SUMS manifest.
install.sh downloads and verifies the ones you request.

sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS --ignore-missing
chmod +x noide-server-linux-x86_64 && sudo mv noide-server-linux-x86_64 /usr/local/bin/

Security

  • Pairing is on by default — the code only exists on the server's console.
  • Use wss:// whenever the connection leaves your trusted LAN; the token
travels in the URL query string, so don't reuse long-lived credentials.
  • --no-auth exists for localhost development only.
  • Cloudflare Quick Tunnel is opt-out at startup via --no-cloudflare; the
tunnel URL is visible only on the server's console (not exposed in the
    WebSocket protocol itself).

See the README and
PROTOCOL.md
for details.

v0.3.7

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Sep 02:28

v0.3.7 — Ship code-vault & http-request binaries (CI-green)

v0.3.5 documented the new code-vault and http-request binaries, but the
release workflow only packaged noide-server and port-forward — the two new
companion binaries were never actually built or attached to the release. v0.3.6
made them workspace members and wired them through the release pipeline, but the
synced source failed cargo fmt --check and cargo clippy -- -D warnings, so CI
never even reached the build step. v0.3.7 cleans up the source (fmt + the
redundant_closure and bind-instead-of-map clippy lints) so the pipeline is
fully green: all four binaries are now built, packaged, checksummed, and verified
for every supported platform.

Highlights

  • Code Vault. A code-vault binary for saving, organizing, and editing code
snippets with syntax highlighting (via CodeMirror). JSON import/export, folder
organization, full-text search, and auto-save. Install with
    bash install.sh --code-vault or bash install.sh --all.
  • HTTP Request. An http-request binary for testing REST APIs. All HTTP
methods, custom headers, JSON/text bodies, request history with folder
organization, and OpenAPI import. Install with
    bash install.sh --http-request or bash install.sh --all.
  • OpenAPI Import. Import API endpoints from OpenAPI/Swagger specs directly
into http-request; endpoints are organized by tags into folders, with sample
    request bodies generated from schemas.
  • Collection Export/Import. Both code-vault and http-request support
exporting and importing collections as JSON files for backup and sharing.
  • Release artifacts. All four binaries — noide-server, port-forward,
code-vault, and http-request — are now built and attached to every release,
with a SHA256SUMS manifest covering all of them. CI passes
cargo fmt --check, cargo test, and cargo clippy -- -D warnings.

companion binaries were never actually built or attached to the release. v0.3.6
fixes that: code-vault and http-request are now Cargo workspace members and
are built, packaged, checksummed, and verified in the release for every supported
platform.

Highlights

  • Code Vault. A code-vault binary for saving, organizing, and editing code
snippets with syntax highlighting (via CodeMirror). JSON import/export, folder
organization, full-text search, and auto-save. Install with
    bash install.sh --code-vault or bash install.sh --all.
  • HTTP Request. An http-request binary for testing REST APIs. All HTTP
methods, custom headers, JSON/text bodies, request history with folder
organization, and OpenAPI import. Install with
    bash install.sh --http-request or bash install.sh --all.
  • OpenAPI Import. Import API endpoints from OpenAPI/Swagger specs directly
into http-request; endpoints are organized by tags into folders, with sample
    request bodies generated from schemas.
  • Collection Export/Import. Both code-vault and http-request support
exporting and importing collections as JSON files for backup and sharing.
  • Release artifacts. All four binaries — noide-server, port-forward,
code-vault, and http-request — are now built and attached to every release,
with a SHA256SUMS manifest covering all of them.
  • Cloudflare Quick Tunnel URL. Now reported as wss:// (the tunnel speaks
WebSocket over the tunnel), so clients connect correctly.
  • New commands. check_code_vault, install_code_vault,
    start_code_vault, stop_code_vault, code_vault_request,
    check_http_request, install_http_request, start_http_request,
    stop_http_request, http_request_request.

Install

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/n-o-ide/noide-server/main/install.sh | bash

Re-running upgrades you to the newest release. Pin a version with
VERSION=0.3.6.

To install all binaries:

bash install.sh --all

Or install individually:

bash install.sh --port-forward
bash install.sh --code-vault
bash install.sh --http-request

Windows note

SmartScreen may warn about an unsigned binary — click More info → Run anyway,
or verify against the published SHA256SUMS before running.

macOS note

Downloaded binaries are quarantined by Gatekeeper. If you see
"cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified", remove the
quarantine attribute once:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "$(command -v noide-server)"
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "$(command -v port-forward)"
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "$(command -v code-vault)"
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "$(command -v http-request)"

Run

noide-server

On startup you get the usual pairing code + QR plus a Cloudflare tunnel URL
if the download succeeds. Enter the pairing code in the NoIDE app
(Settings → Server) and connect.

noide-server --no-cloudflare

Use --no-cloudflare (or set up Caddy/nginx as in the README) when you already
have a wss:// path.

Assets

This release ships pre-built binaries for all four components — noide-server,
port-forward, code-vault, and http-request — plus a SHA256SUMS manifest.
install.sh downloads and verifies the ones you request.

Install a downloaded binary manually:

curl -fLO https://github.com/n-o-ide/noide-server/releases/download/v0.3.6/noide-server-linux-x86_64
curl -fLO https://github.com/n-o-ide/noide-server/releases/download/v0.3.6/SHA256SUMS
sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS --ignore-missing
chmod +x noide-server-linux-x86_64 && sudo mv noide-server-linux-x86_64 /usr/local/bin/

PROTOCOL.md
for details.

v0.3.4 — Workspace, Stability, and Cleanup

Adds a built-in port-forwarding subsystem with Cloudflare/localhost.run/localtunnel
support, a binary PTY fast path for lower-latency keystrokes, and a graceful
shutdown that tears down runtimes cleanly instead of panicking. Also includes
Windows support, a Cloudflare Quick Tunnel, and a round of stability fixes.

Highlights

  • Port Forwarding. A new port-forward binary ships alongside noide-server.
Expose local ports via Cloudflare Quick Tunnel, localhost.run, or localtunnel —
managed from the NoIDE app's Ports panel or used standalone from the CLI.
Install with bash install.sh --port-forward or bash install.sh --all.
  • Binary PTY fast path. Terminal keystrokes can now be sent as raw binary
frames (type 0x01) instead of JSON, skipping UTF-8 validation and reducing
    frame overhead for interactive use.
  • Graceful shutdown. Ctrl+C now signals the async runtime to shut down
cleanly instead of calling process::exit from a signal handler, preventing
"Cannot drop a runtime in a context where blocking is not allowed" panics.
  • Windows support. Release builds now produce
noide-server-windows-x86_64.exe; terminal tabs default to PowerShell and
git is required for Source Control (install Git for Windows if it is missing).
  • Cloudflare Quick Tunnel. With no flags the server downloads
cloudflared into ~/.noide (or %LOCALAPPDATA%\noide on Windows) and
    starts a trycloudflare.com tunnel, printing a public wss://-friendly URL
to stderr. Drop --no-cloudflare if you bring your own reverse proxy.
  • Lower terminal latency. WebSocket batch window reduced from 20ms to 5ms
    — fast enough that interactive echoes never feel delayed while still
coalescing rapid micro-bursts into fewer frames.
  • LAN IP detection + QR. In --no-auth mode the server detects its LAN IP
and prints a scannable QR code containing the server URL, making phone/tablet
    setup easier.
  • New commands. chat_install (install agent CLIs from the app),
    chat_refresh_models, is_file_git_ignored, install_port_forward,
    uninstall_port_forward.
