Steam menus flickering and disappearing

[chaimleib]

OS: Fedora Linux 44 x86_64
Kernel: Linux 7.2.7-200.fc44.x86_64
Niri: v26.04
GPU 1: AMD Radeon RX 7700S (Discrete)
GPU 2: AMD Radeon 780M Graphics (Integrated)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS @ 5.14GHz
Steam: 1.0.0.87, Release 1.fc44

Whenever I open Steam and try to access a menu, the menu flickers into view and then disappears. If I try the same thing from Hyprland v0.56.2, the menus stay visible. It used to be ok under Niri, but it's been broken for the past few weeks.

Any ideas or fixes?

Use the latest git commit of xwayland satellite
Supreeeme/xwayland-satellite@add2795

[chaimleib]

sudo dnf install xcb-util-cursor-devel
mkdir ~/3rd-party
cd ~/3rd-party
git clone https://github.com/Supreeeme/xwayland-satellite
cd xwayland-satellite
# git log shows add2795
cargo build --release
sudo cp target/release/xwayland-satellite /usr/local/bin/
reboot

Steam menus still flicker away (EDIT: until reboot).

Did you reboot

[chaimleib]

Aha, reboot fixes it!
