Release list
v1.0.1
Security and reliability fixes for the avatar cache. Updating from v1.0.0 is recommended.
Fixed
- Prevent avatar version names from writing outside the cache directory.
- Replace predictable temporary-file writes with exclusive temporary files and atomic publication through a held directory descriptor. Planted symlinks cannot redirect these writes.
- Refuse symlinked cache paths, special files and hard-linked cache entries. Keep the cache directory private and cached files owner-only.
- Preserve unrelated files and existing pictures when avatar data is malformed. Retire only pictures previously used by the current watcher.
- Bound avatar input and decoding; rejected pictures fall back to the bot's drawn avatar.
The roster, assistance animation and Retina media are unchanged. Omabot still does not control Grok Bot or send duplicate desktop notifications.
Verification
All 10 focused cache regressions pass, including against the exact commit archive. Real picture rendering, rotation and safe fallback were exercised through the actual watcher and Omarchy shell in an isolated lab.
v1.0.0
Omabot’s first release: your Grok Bot roster in the Omarchy bar, with expressive avatars and a panel showing who needs you.
Highlights
- Bots appear as their own shapes, colours or avatar pictures. The panel shows their title, latest message, unread count and requests for input.
- When a bot needs assistance, the bar makes room, the avatar lands with two diminishing bounces, then settles and wiggles once. Works on top, bottom, left and right bars.
- Grok Bot 0.47 compatibility: current purple colour and preference fields, structured input reasons, unread fallback and improved transcript-based working-state detection.
- Keyboard navigation, channel and attention ordering, and a screen-sharing mode that redacts names and messages.
- Refreshed Tokyo Night header, native 2× Retina screenshots and 60 fps videos in the README.
Omabot reads Grok Bot’s local state. It does not control bots or send duplicate desktop notifications; notifications remain Grok Bot’s responsibility. Its on-disk integration is unofficial and was checked against Grok Bot 0.47.0.
