NM/NZ 0.1.51

@github-actions github-actions released this 13 Sep 08:03

Added

  • Coloured player names now show on the end-of-match table as well as the leaderboard and player list.

Changed

  • Escape releasing the cursor is no longer a setting. It is how the client works, so the option is gone from the client tab.
  • YBG_Wallace now has the same name colour as drainciity.

Fixed

  • Clicking back in after Escape is now instant every time, in pubs and in ranked. It could still take up to two seconds when you pressed Escape while crouching or sliding, when a quick tap came back up before the mouse was released, or after escaping and clicking back in four or five times in a row.
  • Kill streak sounds no longer replay their start a few seconds in. It mostly hit the first-kill sound, and it affected any swapped sound or video big enough to load in pieces.

Fixed

  • Pressing Escape to leave a match no longer makes clicking back in take about two seconds. The client now takes Escape before it reaches the game while your mouse is locked and releases the mouse itself, the same way Alt-Tab does, which clicks straight back in. Escape still closes chat, menus and windows as before.
  • Chat stays scrolled to the newest message on click-to-play and the death screen. Chat gets shorter at both, and a shorter chat box was left sitting a little above the bottom until the next message arrived.

Added

  • Live accuracy, in QoL Features under Built-in. Shows how many of your shots have landed this life, in the top right beside kills and deaths, styled like the game’s own stats. Reloads and weapon swaps are not counted as shots, a shotgun shell counts once however many pellets hit, and a knife hit counts nothing. Dying keeps the figure up until your next shot.

Added

  • Hide death stats, in QoL Features under Built-in. Removes the panel that pops up when you die, which freezes the client for a lot of people: its shadow effects and images all load on the frame you die. Switches on and off without a reload.

Added

  • Kill streak sounds can run without the banners. Switch Show banners off in its editor to keep the sounds and lose the picture at the bottom of the screen.

Added

  • Kill streak sounds, in QoL Features under Built-in. A Valorant-style sound and banner for each kill in a row, starting over when you die, a match ends or ten seconds pass without a kill. Press Edit to pick a pack and set the volume; picking one plays its first sound. Packs are folders you add to swap/sounds/killstreak, and the client ships none of its own.

Added

  • The sky colour is previewed against a real map. Three of them, switchable, each a screenshot with the sky cut out of it, so the colour you pick sits behind the scene and the fogged horizon tints along with it rather than the editor showing you a flat block of the colour and wishing you luck.

Changed

  • QoL Features opens on Built-in rather than Userscripts, and the two tabs have swapped places to match.
  • "Deeper frame queue" and "Aggressive GPU switches" are marked EXPERIMENTAL. Both depend on your hardware and drivers, and either can leave the game rendering wrong or refusing to start; the tooltip says what to do when that happens.

Fixed

  • The queue readout no longer covers the menu you are looking at. Opening settings, Social or Store while searching left it sitting on top of them, and no amount of layering was ever going to fix it: everything Krunker opens lives inside one element that is itself stacked low, so a readout parked outside that element is above all of it whatever number it carries. It now sits inside the game's own layer, above the HUD and under anything either of us opens on top.
  • The chat channel switch is back in the in-game HUD when the NM/NZ style is on. The globe that flips what you type between your team and everyone had been hidden along with the mic button beside it, which left no way to see which one you were about to send to.

Added

  • A crosshair maker, in QoL Features under Built-in. Pick a shape, a length, a thickness, a gap, a centre dot, an outline and a colour, or drop in a PNG. The preview sits on one of Krunker's own wall textures, because a thin dark crosshair that looks right on a panel disappears on brick. An image you drop is read off your disk once and kept as its own bytes, which is the point: Krunker takes a custom crosshair as a URL, and a URL from Discord stops resolving the day the CDN expires it, so people lose their crosshair mid-match with nothing to explain it. This one cannot go missing, because there is nothing left to fetch. Krunker draws its own crosshair as well, so the editor has a switch for that: it presses the game's own setting and puts it back.
  • A hitmarker maker beside it, with the same shapes and the same image drop, plus the two things a hitmarker wants: drag it off centre, and pull its corner to resize. It appears when the game plays the sound it plays for a landed shot, so it is Krunker saying you connected rather than the client guessing.
  • Sky colour: one colour in place of every map's own sky, with eight presets and a picker. Krunker builds the sky when a map loads and nothing can repaint the one you are standing under, so this lands on the next map, and the editor says so and gives you the reload. Fog, lighting and shadows are left exactly as the map made them.

Changed

  • The client asks Chromium for far fewer requests. It used to intercept every request to krunker.io, so each texture, model and sound a map loaded woke the main process to be looked at, nearly always to be waved through: the swap folder is empty on a default install, prop culling is off, and a texture was never going to be an ad host. It now intercepts only what something switched on is actually waiting for. Measured across one menu load, the same scenario both ways: 181 requests handed to the client before, 6 after. A map load is a good deal bigger than a menu.

Fixed

  • Opening settings while queued no longer puts the settings window behind the queue readout. The readout was sitting on a layer above anything the game opens; it now sits above the HUD but below Krunker’s own windows.

Changed

  • Your browser now asks to open "NM/NZ Client" rather than "Performance-focused Krunker client for Windows", which is what it had been reading off the exe.

Fixed

  • A tournament link only hosted if the client was already open. Clicking one with the client closed started it and then did nothing, which is the way most people will click one. Two things were wrong: the link was handed over at the moment the page finished loading, and the check for whether the page was ready asked a question that is never true on Krunker, so it was dropped every time. Past that, the host window was being opened while the game was still loading, which draws it with an empty map list that never fills in, so the lobby went up on whatever map happened to be ticked. It now waits for the game to actually be up first.
