GreatPing 0.5.0 introduces pairing v2, a reviewed interactive setup plan, offline agent skills and installation-specific update guidance.

Upgrade instructions

Pairing v2 requires a compatible GreatPing app. Computers paired by CLI 0.4.x or earlier must run greatping logout, then greatping login. If the app reports "Set up GreatPing again", complete fresh account setup there first: updating the CLI does not migrate legacy v1 account manifests.

The phone now checks the computer's proof of the pairing code before signing membership. A mistyped code or substituted keys end the pairing without adding a member. Interrupted final confirmation is saved locally and retried by login or the next computer report; status shows when it is pending.

Setup and skills

• Review one interactive setup plan for Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi and Cursor IDE; customize each agent, then Apply or Cancel. Unselected agents keep their configuration.
• Install bundled agent skills offline. The optional npx skills installer remains available for other agents.
• Use doctor to detect skill updates and doctor --fix to update unchanged copies owned by this installation. Edited copies and other installations are preserved.

Update guidance

Unsupported-client errors, including during login, now use the same installation-specific advice as update notices. Vite+ installations receive vp install -g greatping@latest; other recognized installations use their owning manager. Unknown installations receive manual guidance.

MCP server and WebSocket dependencies were updated. Node.js 22.20 or later remains required. The mobile app remains in private testing.

CLI commands now show activity while waiting for network operations, and project commands have clearer navigation and consistent terminal styling.

• Show progress for status, pause/resume, project label updates, pairing, diagnostics, setup, removal, question creation and completion notices. Clear indicators before results and keep JSON and non-interactive output clean.
• Cancel pending requests on interruption, restore the cursor and retain pairing or recovery state when cleanup has not completed.
• Make greatping project an overview, list its actions in help and apply consistent colors to project names, commands and hidden states.
• Confirm notification submission with Notification queued.; queueing does not establish device delivery. The JSON accepted status remains compatible.
• Link to advanced hook management from CLI help and document its actions. greatping setup remains the normal configuration entry point; existing hook handlers remain supported.

Requires Node.js 22.20.0 or later. This remains a preview using the hosted GreatPing service and private-test mobile app.

GitHub release assets and npm publication are separate: npm availability follows approval of the staged package.
