Sikemux v0.4.3

Sikemux 0.4.3 keeps your agents running when the window closes, brings your code host into the Git pane, and lets you hand an agent anything you are looking at.

Agents keep running

  • Terminals and chat agents run in a background core, so quitting Sikemux leaves them running and reopening it puts every pane back where it was. A chat agent comes back mid-turn, with its permission request still waiting. Quit and Stop Everything ends them all, and sikemux core stop does the same from the command line.
  • Updates no longer stop anything. A newer Sikemux takes over the running core in place, panes keep their screens, and an update waits for chat agents to finish their turns.
  • A terminal agent that crashes comes back on its conversation in the same pane, a chat whose agent died can be resumed, and agents' tools keep answering with the window closed.

Your code host in the Git pane

  • GitHub and Bitbucket Cloud live beside your local changes. Pull requests read like the host's own page, with their conversation, reviews, checks and who merged them. Check one out from its page, open a failing check's job, or jump from a CI annotation to its file and line.
  • GitHub Actions runs with their jobs, logs, artifacts and deployment approvals, Bitbucket Pipelines, releases and an inbox, which your agents can read too.
  • More than one account per host, switched per project.
  • A new Git pane: Changes, History and Branches over one review, staging from a file's row, one commit message box, and history that shows who wrote each commit.

Working with agents

  • Hand an agent a terminal selection, a problem from the editor, SigNoz log lines or a pull request's diff lines, or start a new chat on an issue. In the composer, @ attaches a file or folder and # hands over an issue or pull request.
  • Find text in a conversation with ⌘F, and Escape stops the running turn. Each prompt shows when it was sent and how long its answer took, and queued messages go out together.
  • Start a chat in its own git worktree; Sikemux shows its pull request and cleans it up once merged.
  • Rename chats, browse saved chats across providers and projects in the All agents tab, reopen one from a sikemux:// link, and switch Claude or Codex accounts from the limits footer.
  • A chip in the top bar counts the ports your project's terminals, tasks and agents listen on.

The workspace

  • ⌘N starts an agent, ⌘T a terminal, ⌘J the desk. ⌘W no longer closes the window, and closing a project or a working agent asks first.
  • PDFs, audio, video, fonts and binaries open in a preview, and Office and iWork documents through Quick Look.
  • The desk's browser suggests the sites you visit most as you type an address.
  • Aura Noir is the default theme.

The agent's browser

  • Its keys and clicks stay in the tab and leave your cursor and typing alone. It can open local files, wait on a condition, reload, and act several times in one call, and a tab notices when its page hangs or crashes.
  • An agent is offered only the plugin tools that work in its repository.

Remote access, first steps

A Devices page in Settings pairs a device with a code you approve, and a paired device can see and start chats in your projects, drawn in your Mac's theme. There is no phone app yet; this is the groundwork for one.

Thanks to Sujal Rajput for the GitHub plugin and renaming chats, to Ankit Patidar for find in conversation, Escape to stop, turn timings and keeping Git's state fresh, and to Krisna Satria for the start of a Linux build.

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 16:16

Sikemux v0.4.3-nightly.6

The sixth nightly on the 0.4.3 line. Nightlies are signed and delivered exactly like stable releases, but they carry unreleased work and can break. Switch back to stable in Settings → About whenever you want; you keep the build you are on until a stable release passes it.

New since nightly.5

A quieter nightly: most of the work is groundwork for remote access from a phone, which is not released yet.

  • Paired devices see more of your Mac. A paired device lists every chat you have open, including sleeping ones it can wake, by the titles the rail shows. It draws them in your Mac's theme, pane texture and picture, and is told which Sikemux release and channel your Mac runs, so it can say which side needs an update.
  • Steadier connections. A device's chats are numbered, so a dropped connection picks up where it left off instead of starting over. A device can also unpair itself.
  • sikemux core stop stops the background core from the command line.
  • When Sikemux closes browser tabs in bulk, it now logs why.

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 09:08

Sikemux v0.4.3-nightly.5

The fifth nightly on the 0.4.3 line. Nightlies are signed and delivered exactly like stable releases, but they carry unreleased work and can break. Switch back to stable in Settings → About whenever you want; you keep the build you are on until a stable release passes it.

New since nightly.4

  • Your agents keep working when the window closes. Terminals and chat agents now run in a background core, so quitting Sikemux leaves them running and reopening it puts every pane back where it was. A chat agent comes back mid-turn, with its permission request still waiting. Quit and Stop Everything ends them all.
  • Updates no longer stop anything. A newer Sikemux takes over the running core in place, panes keep their screens, and an update waits for chat agents to finish their turns.
  • Crashed agents come back. A terminal agent that dies returns on its conversation in the same pane, and agents' tools keep answering with the window closed.
  • Worktrees. Start a chat in its own git worktree. Sikemux shows the worktree's pull request and cleans it up once it is merged.
  • Ports. A chip in the top bar counts the ports your project's terminals, tasks and agents listen on, and agents can list them too.
  • Spaces. Group projects into spaces of your own, each with a name and an optional emoji, and switch between them from the Projects header. A space shows only its projects and All shows every one; hiding a project this way never closes it. Right-click a project to move it to another space.
  • Model providers. Paste a hosted model provider's key once in Settings, and OpenCode, Pi and OMP pick it up.
  • Remote access, first steps. A new Devices page in Settings turns on remote access and pairs a device with a code you approve, shown with a QR code, and the Mac can be found on the same network. A paired device can start a chat agent in one of your projects; its chats show among the project's agents on the Mac, and a prompt shows for everyone watching the chat. While remote access is on, the core starts at login. There is no phone app to install yet; this is the groundwork for one.
  • Faster start. Sikemux reads your login shell while the window opens and no longer runs zoxide at launch.
  • The chat. Pick a new chat's project from a strip above the composer, or move a chat that has not started to another project. Attached files show as cards with their file type, and a long tool run redraws only the row that changed. The Git pane shows each pull request's CI in its list.
  • Fixes. Agents get your shell's UTF-8 locale, so tools such as Ruby no longer fall back to ASCII, and a browser tab an agent opens just after launch stays open.

Sikemux v0.4.3-nightly.4

The fourth nightly on the 0.4.3 line. Nightlies are signed and delivered exactly like stable releases, but they carry unreleased work and can break. Switch back to stable in Settings → About whenever you want; you keep the build you are on until a stable release passes it.

New since nightly.3

  • Send anything to an agent. Pick which agent gets it, then hand over a terminal selection, a problem from the editor, SigNoz log lines or a pull request's diff lines. Start a new chat agent on an issue straight from the Git pane.
  • The composer. @ attaches a project file or folder, and # hands over an issue or pull request.
  • The chat. Find text in a conversation with ⌘F, and Escape stops the running turn. Each prompt shows when it was sent, and its answer shows when it finished and how long it took. A chat whose agent died can be resumed, a session says why it ended, and a resumed session past 200K tokens gets the 1M window.
  • Switch accounts for Claude or Codex from the limits footer in the rail.
  • Under 10 MB again. The download drops from 11.5 MB to about 10 MB. The voice helper is no longer bundled: Sikemux downloads it the first time you dictate, checked against the exact build it expects, the same way it fetches the speech model.
  • The up and down arrows bring back sent messages only from an empty composer, and agents can be closed from the all projects list.

Thanks to Ankit Patidar for find in conversation, Escape to stop, and the timing on each turn.

Sikemux v0.4.3-nightly.3

The third nightly on the 0.4.3 line. Nightlies are signed and delivered exactly like stable releases, but they carry unreleased work and can break. Switch back to stable in Settings → About whenever you want; you keep the build you are on until a stable release passes it.

New since nightly.2

  • Shortcuts. ⌘N starts an agent, ⌘T a terminal where you are, ⌘J the nearest desk, and Option takes you back to the terminal. ⌘W no longer closes the window and quits every agent, and closing a project or a working agent asks first.
  • Previews. PDFs, audio, video, fonts and binaries open in a preview, and Office and iWork documents open through Quick Look.
  • The desk's browser. ⌘L opens the address over the middle of the page, suggests the sites you visit most and the pages you have been to, and Escape puts it away. The address bar leads with the site, and ⌘W closes the page rather than the whole desk.
  • Agents. Rename a chat from its header, its menu or the agent rail. The agent rail has an All agents tab, saved chats page across providers and projects, and a sikemux:// link reopens an agent's conversation.
  • Tabs. Drag a pane's tab out of its split to give it a tab of its own, and grab a tab anywhere without dragging the window.
  • Leaner agent tools. An agent is offered only the plugin tools that work in its repository, SigNoz answers through five tools instead of twelve, and the browser's tools answer in less.
  • Panes share one dithered picture in place of the grain, and an empty workspace always offers somewhere to go.

Thanks to Sujal Rajput for renaming chats.

Sikemux v0.4.3-nightly.2

The second nightly on the 0.4.3 line. Nightlies are signed and delivered exactly like stable releases, but they carry unreleased work and can break. Switch back to stable in Settings → About whenever you want; you keep the build you are on until a stable release passes it.

New since nightly.1

  • The agent's browser keeps out of your way. Its keys act in the tab and never reach what you are typing, its clicks leave your cursor alone, and your keyboard comes back when it is done.
  • The agent's browser does more. It can open a local file or folder, wait on a condition, reload, and say what an action really did. A tab notices when its page hangs or crashes, and a fixed viewport lays the page out at its real size.
  • Agents run and read more. task_start runs a one-off command in a managed terminal and answers within 30 seconds. Agents can read the app's own console, and a misnamed tool argument points at the one the agent meant.
  • YOLO means YOLO. A YOLO chat answers every permission ask, Claude and Codex included, and a YOLO agent starts sikemux.json tasks without the trust dialog.
  • Opening the app's window from a tool bounces the Dock instead of taking another app's keyboard.
  • A pane divider stops glowing once the drag ends, and an older GitHub run attempt keeps the way back to the latest one.

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Sep 09:09

Sikemux v0.4.3-nightly.1

The first nightly on the 0.4.3 line. Nightlies are signed and delivered exactly like stable releases, but they carry unreleased work and can break. Switch back to stable in Settings → About whenever you want; you keep the build you are on until a stable release passes it.

New since 0.4.2

  • Your code host in the Git pane. GitHub and Bitbucket Cloud live beside your local changes. Pull requests read like local changes and like the host's own page, with their conversation, reviews, checks and who merged them. Check a pull request out from its page, open a failing check's job, or jump from a CI annotation to its file and line. A branch shows its open pull request.
  • GitHub Actions and Bitbucket Pipelines. GitHub runs bring their jobs, logs, artifacts, annotations and deployment approvals, with releases and an inbox beside them, and your agents can read them through tools named github_. Bitbucket pipelines list beside them.
  • More than one account per host, switched per project from the Git pane. Requests hold back once a rate limit is spent.
  • A new Git pane. Changes, History and Branches over one review. Stage or unstage a file from its row, discard every unstaged change at once, and write commits in one message box. History shows who wrote each commit, and file headers stick as the review scrolls.
  • Aura Noir is the default theme: Aura's colours on near-black surfaces.
  • The chat. Queued messages go out together and steer all at once, and a new session opens on the project's activity and calendar.
  • The rails. Each rail has its own toggle, focus mode hides both, and the sessions rail opens on a masthead that carries the update.
  • The agent's browser. browser_act plays several clicks, keys and typing in one call, and the mobile viewport introduces itself as an iPhone.
  • Plugins read your shell's variables even when Sikemux opens from the Dock, so AWS and GitHub find their settings.

Thanks to Sujalxcode for the GitHub plugin, and to Ankit Patidar for keeping Git's state fresh.

v0.4.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 27 Sep 22:08

Sikemux v0.4.2

Sikemux 0.4.2 lets you talk to your agents, brings four more agents into the built-in chat, lets the workspace split, gives the whole app motion, and closes a long list of ways a page, a repo or a project file could reach further than it should.

Agents and the chat

  • Hold right Option to dictate into the focused agent, or use the microphone in the composer. Speech is transcribed on your Mac, on the Neural Engine, and the words appear as you speak them.
  • OpenCode, OMP, Grok and Hermes open in the built-in chat, each over its own ACP.
  • Tool calls show what they printed and what is still running. Code blocks have a copy button and a language icon, and markdown is read by a Rust parser.
  • The up and down arrows bring back messages you already sent. A new agent tab is named after its first prompt.
  • Sikemux notifies you when an agent needs you while the app is in the background.

The workspace

  • Workspace tabs live in the top bar. Drag a tab onto the screen to split it above, below or beside the current one, up to three across. Git, search and the editor split too, and a file can split beside itself.
  • Files opened from the tree open in a preview tab, and the tree is a panel of its own.
  • An agent's side pane holds its pages, files and task terminals.
  • Cmd+B toggles focus mode. Pinch the trackpad to resize text in the chat, the editor and the terminal.
  • Diffs are drawn by Sikemux itself, from libgit2.

Look and motion

  • Tabs, rails, menus, palettes and toasts open and close with motion. New messages rise in, tool calls unfold in place, and working agents twinkle instead of spinning.
  • Umbra, a near-black theme with a pink accent.
  • First run is a single welcome screen.
  • AWS and Rundeck are redesigned around a list and a side panel.
  • The terminal colours shell output and spaces its rows the way Ghostty does.
  • Selection shows as a ring, never a stripe down the left edge.

The agent's browser

  • A tab can be held at a fixed viewport, the network log lists page loads and framework requests, and actions can find and click by label.
  • Tabs load only web addresses, finished downloads are quarantined, and pages are refused the camera and microphone. A page can no longer open tabs or dialogs in a loop.

Safer by default

  • A project's language servers, and the commands a sikemux.json asks to run, wait for your approval.
  • A repo's own git config can no longer run commands when Sikemux reads files, and ref or remote names are never read as options.
  • Speech models download pinned and hash-checked, and the app window cannot be navigated away from the app.

Sikemux v0.4.2-nightly.3

The third nightly on the 0.4.2 line. Nightlies are signed and delivered exactly like stable releases, but they carry unreleased work and can break. Switch back to stable in Settings → About whenever you want; you keep the build you are on until a stable release passes it.

New since nightly.2

  • Voice. Hold right Option to dictate into the focused agent, or use the microphone in the chat composer. Speech is transcribed on your Mac, on the Neural Engine.
  • More agents in the chat. OpenCode, OMP, Grok and Hermes open in the built-in chat, over their own ACP.
  • Motion. Tabs, rails, menus, palettes and toasts open and close with motion. New messages rise in, tool calls unfold in place, send and stop turn into each other, and working agents twinkle instead of spinning.
  • A new first run. One welcome screen instead of a four-step tour.
  • AWS and Rundeck redesigned around a list and a side panel. AWS also shows queue message counts, and a task's zone and address.
  • The chat. Tool calls show what they printed and what is still running. Code blocks have a copy button and a language icon. A new agent tab is named after its first prompt, and Claude sessions are titled by what you typed.
  • The desk. An agent's side pane holds its pages, files and task terminals.
  • Languages. Grammars that don't ship with the app are downloaded once, when first needed, and files without an extension take their language's icon.
  • The terminal colours shell output and spaces its rows the way Ghostty does.
  • Selection shows as a ring instead of a stripe down the left edge.
  • Tauri 2.12, and a round of dependency upgrades.

The second nightly on the 0.4.2 line. Nightlies are signed and delivered exactly like stable releases, but they carry unreleased work and can break. Switch back to stable in Settings → About whenever you want; you keep the build you are on until a stable release passes it.

New since nightly.1

  • Sikemux notifies you when an agent needs you while the app is in the background.
  • The up and down arrows in the chat composer bring back messages you already sent.
  • Astro files get syntax highlighting and an icon.
  • A task's output opens as a terminal tab.
  • A URL in a tool call row opens like any other link.
  • A running subagent's row in the dock holds its icon and name still.
  • The screen no longer drifts left and crops its edge.
  • Browser pages parked out of view no longer swallow files dropped on the window.
  • The agent mark on a browser tab shares the close button's slot.
  • When sikemux.json can't be loaded, Sikemux says whether it is missing or invalid, and why.
  • What's New shows contributor credits, and their avatars load even when one GitHub address is unreachable.
