What changed

Birth guidance and personal lists. Pregnancy preparation now includes attended homebirth, freebirth, transfer planning and after-birth care. Read the guidance offline, follow labelled NHS/NICE/CDC source links, edit checklist titles and notes, add your own items, and mark preparations complete. The articles are also searchable in Mom/Dad advice. Content distinguishes qualified attendance from unassisted birth and focuses on informed choices, care access, warning signs and prompt professional assessment. The source review records sources checked in October 2026 and their local-care limits.

A homebirth plan for each child. Save maternity and local emergency contacts, address/access, attendants and backup, support people, consent/privacy and comfort preferences, care information, transfer arrangements, aftercare and priorities. Plans are personal notes to discuss with qualified professionals, not clinical clearance. Existing hospital-bag items and birth notes stay in place.

Labour focus. A dedicated native view brings the saved plan, urgent-help guidance, maternity contact, contraction controls and recent contractions together. The view reads the same saved records as the pregnancy journal. Dial buttons open the phone app for review and never call automatically. A timer does not diagnose labour, monitor clinical safety or decide when care can wait.

Their own wishlist and woodland. Each child's wishlist keeps gift, book, experience or other ideas, notes, optional HTTP(S) web links and Wanted/Obtained state. Filter, edit, mark or delete ideas while keeping child ownership and caregiver read-only guards. Child profiles now choose Forest, Moss, Amber or Sky accents and Summer, Autumn or Night tree styles. Native Canvas tree scenery, branches and shaded memory leaves have more detail; chapters, timeline, tap/open, tap/place and long-press drag remain available. Framework accessibility actions page through leaves and branch positions.

All family records, guidance and artwork remain native Kotlin/Compose and available offline. Source and wishlist links need an external browser when opened. The app has no Internet permission, account requirement or cloud sync. Existing care, health, calendar, audio, pregnancy and family features are retained.

The existing evaluation certificate is retained:

Export and keep a backup before installing over the existing evaluation app.
Avoid uninstalling because it deletes local records. Missing-key signing fails
instead of generating another identity. Production-signed installations require
their original private production identity; that key is unavailable for this
evaluation release. Installation instructions.

The schema 11→12 migration adds Forest/Summer appearance defaults and a child-owned
Wishlist table without rebuilding old tables or deleting records. Older native
backup formats 1–3 remain importable with new-data defaults. 3.5.1 and earlier
apps reject format-4 exports. Keep the pre-update backup; this release makes no
downgrade-compatibility claim.

Completed verification

• Final integrated build checks passed after layout polish: debug APK, instrumentation APK, unsigned R8
  release APK/AAB and vital lint, using JDK 17 / Gradle 9.3.1 / SDK 37.0 /
  build tools 36.0.0. Unit results: 111 passed (109 core + 2 app).
• 32 unique native Android checks passed on a dedicated API 29 software
  emulator: 17 repository/migration/photo-backup checks and 15 UI/gesture/framework
  accessibility checks. The UI result combines 13 initially passing checks with
  two corrected-flow reruns; failing attempts are retained as evidence.
• Repository checks cover saved list edits/completion, Room close/reopen,
  child/stage changes, caregiver guards, cross-child overwrite rejection,
  migration origins, older backup imports, strict format-4 validation and
  rollback, and photo-backup handling. Native UI checks exercise birth planning,
  Wishlist, appearance, care/navigation and existing calendar/tooth/tree gestures,
  including paged tree accessibility actions.
• A real 3.5.1→3.6.0 install-as-update with Wi-Fi/data disabled preserved every
  pre-existing fixture table, column value and row, and byte-identical DataStore
  settings. Fixtures included two synthetic children, a feeding, pregnancy
  session, completed bag item, birth note and a memory at anchor 23. New
  Forest/Summer defaults and empty Wishlist were correct; SQLite integrity passed.

Final compact-layout native reruns passed, followed by clean normal and150%
font-scale screen checks. The tree's Summer/Autumn/Night scenes were captured
and inspected with the same six saved branch positions. Final crash buffer was
empty. Manual external-dialer and focused idle-performance checks were blocked
by unavailable UiAutomator hierarchies and are not claimed as passes.

Remaining limitations

This is an evaluation pre-release. API 29 software-emulator evidence does not
establish physical-device performance, battery or audio quality. Physical-phone
checks, spoken TalkBack, Android 17 background/notification behavior and minified
release runtime are untested for this update. R8 build success is separate from
runtime verification. Production signing requires the original private key.

Guidance is general education and does not replace a maternity team or emergency
services. Birth-setting suitability, local transfer arrangements and aftercare
need individual professional advice. Source guidance includes UK-specific care
arrangements; the app does not select a universal emergency number or guarantee
that unassisted birth is safe. Cloud sharing, partner accounts, widgets and iOS
remain future work.

Website publication

The existing woodland showcase
was updated with the 3.6.0 APK and four real native screens. Sites version 5
published 2026-10-03 16:44UTC. The connected reversible woodland journey and
sample demos remain intact. Real local Chromium/WebKit passed five screen sizes
each, four no-JavaScript cases and two 200% text cases; real live Chromium passed
five sizes and both no-JavaScript cases after publication. Physical mobile
browser performance is unmeasured. Website QA.

GitHub publication workflow 37138059905 passed. Actual downloaded APK/source
assets match the release checksum file and GitHub's asset digests.

What changed

Two check-ups with the same title and date could previously link a health note
to the wrong visit. The health journal now selects the exact appointment in a
native searchable picker, showing full date, time and clinic/place. Search reaches
older visits before limiting results; pages of 50 keep the list manageable.
Cancel keeps the draft link. Clearing a link leaves the appointment intact.

Editing notes previously shifted the later daylight-saving repeated hour back
one hour. Notes-only edits now preserve the original recorded instant, including
seconds and milliseconds. Child switching discards unsaved drafts, and caregiver
mode closes the mutable picker while repository guards continue to block writes.

Recovered the complete checksum-verified native project into android/ in Git.
The existing Kotlin/Compose, Room/DataStore, native audio, graphics, four tabs,
offline records, explicit migrations and backup format remain in place. The source
download includes the actual Android project, QA evidence, artwork, motion pack,
and unsigned R8 APK/AAB/mapping. Signing keys and credentials are excluded.

The website's overlapping lower tooth arch blocked upper-tooth clicks in a real
browser. Containers now pass pointer events to their tooth buttons. Scroll story,
motion controls, sample demos and feature-request drafts are preserved. Download
metadata and the new native health-picker screenshot now describe 3.5.1.

Verification

• Debug APK, instrumentation APK, R8 unsigned release APK/AAB and vital lint passed
  on JDK 17 / Gradle 9.3.1 / SDK 37.0 / build tools 36.0.0.
• 79 unit tests passed at baseline (78 core, 1 app). The final app test reran and
  passed; unchanged core tests were up-to-date. No unit failures/errors/skips.
• 21 unique Android tests passed on a dedicated API 29 software emulator. Coverage
  includes exact links/timestamps, older search/pagination/Back/Cancel/clear,
  child/caregiver guards, reopen/stage/backup persistence, three migrations,
  photos/invalid-import rollback, calendar/tooth/memory gestures, health CRUD,
  actual native sound controls and four-tab navigation. At 150% text, the new
  picker selected the exact visit and light-theme feeding saved 80 mL.
• Install-as-update from rebuilt original-source 3.5.0 preserved every fixture
  table row and DataStore byte, including two children and caregiver mode. Offline
  startup and SQLite integrity checks passed. Published/rebuilt/new certificates
  match; Room schema 11 and backup format 3 are unchanged.
• Four actual rendered Chromium viewport cases passed: forward/reverse SVG frames,
  normal scrolling, idle pause, still layouts, motion-off persistence, live reduced
  motion, all 20 tooth targets/hold/movement cancellation, sample flows and GitHub
  draft feedback. Static/checksum and simulated DOM checks are separate evidence.
• One stable 8-second native picker idle sample with motion disabled rendered
  zero new app frames. This is bounded emulator evidence, not phone performance.

Initial reproduced bug failures and a corrected test-loading timing failure are
retained in the evidence. Only completed final passing results are counted.

Remaining limitations

Evaluation pre-release; no physical-device/Galaxy S25, spoken TalkBack, speaker
quality, battery, Android 17 background/notification, or minified-release runtime
claim. The entire historical instrumentation suite was not rerun. A previously
documented finite press-animation replay remains cosmetic. Production signing
still requires the original private production identity.

Browser checks use headless Chromium on Linux with mobile-layout viewports; no
physical-phone browser, Safari/Firefox or supported WebMCP-browser claim. Website
publication is tracked in the continuation document through the existing Sites
project; committing website/ alone does not publish it.

What's new

• 46 woodland motion assets in both light and dark themes, with matching static fallbacks. Selected navigation icons, banner details, button responses, and save feedback use native Lottie Compose.
• Motion follows Reduce motion, the Android animator setting, lifecycle, battery saver, focus, keyboard visibility, and viewport eligibility. Assets are bundled locally; no Internet permission was added.
• Painted woodland scenes, the native tooth tracker, sound machine, expanded parent advice, and all existing care tools remain connected to each child's profile.
• Light-theme logging at 150% font size was verified on the emulator. Existing development-signing identity is preserved for updates from the 3.4 debug APK.
• The showcase website now has a scroll-controlled woodland journey. Scrolling forward advances the scene; scrolling back reverses it. Motion can be turned off, and the website follows the device's reduced-motion preference.

Verification and remaining work

The native update passed 79 unit tests and 12 focused Android checks on an API 29 software emulator. Checks covered every supplied asset, motion gating, the four tabs, calendar/tooth/memory gestures, native sound service controls, multiple children, caregiver protections, and light-theme feeding save at 150% font size. Debug, R8 release APK, release AAB, and release vital lint completed. Full evidence is inside the source ZIP's docs/QA-3.5.md.

This is an evaluation pre-release. Galaxy S25 hardware smoothness, battery use, spoken TalkBack output, and minified-release runtime still require device QA. Release outputs are unsigned and require a private production upload key. A finite button animation can replay after motion eligibility returns; this is cosmetic and never repeats its action.

Website checks cover static assets, links, versions, download hashes, and DOM-simulated interactions including scroll reversal and reduced-motion behavior. Rendered-browser/mobile visual QA was unavailable in the static-site preview environment; no browser frame-rate claim is made.

Data and support

Room schema 11 and backup format 3 are unchanged. Existing Reduce motion preferences stay intact; it is enabled by default for new app installations. Family records remain local. Grandparent mode prevents accidental edits and is not authentication. Backups contain readable personal information: keep them private.

Report a problem or suggest a feature. Use sample data rather than family records. Parenting guidance is general education; contact emergency services in an emergency.

A softer home for everyday parenting. This release brings the native Android app into a coordinated grassy woodland visual theme while retaining the existing care tools and local records.

What's new

• Five original painted woodland scenes: background, Today, Schedule, Care, and More.
• Thirty-three custom SVG/native vector icons for tabs, features, and shared actions.
• Softer rounded cards, forest greens, moss accents, warm cream, and scalable serif headings.
• Matching dark and light native controls and illustrated tab headers.
• An optional subtle firefly background. Reduce motion is enabled by default.

The development build remains compatible with native 3.3 storage and its signing identity. Export a backup before installing updates. The release asset is the same APK originally uploaded to this repository; repository decoration does not change the app binary.

Validation and remaining work

The 3.4 build passed compilation, 79 unit tests, debug and unsigned release builds in the development session. Emulator checks covered navigation and care interactions. These are development results, not a claim of complete device or store certification.

This GitHub release is marked pre-release because the final large-text check, the system animation-setting fix, broader physical-device testing and production signing are still pending. The current optional-motion implementation can continue animating when Android's animation scale changes during use. Keep Reduce motion enabled for a static background.

Guidance remains educational. Clinical/editorial review and the remaining hardware/store checks are required before a general release. Cloud sync, shared caregiver accounts, and iOS are not included.
