cChat 0.1.7

Choose a tag to compare

@notlenny2 notlenny2 released this 13 Oct 22:37

What's new in 0.1.7

  • Smart model. Pick "Smart" as a chat's model and a quick helper chooses the model and how hard to think for each message, so a "thanks" doesn't cost the same as a tough bug. A small caption under the reply says what it picked.
  • Thinking level. Set how hard a chat thinks (Light to Hardest), for Claude Code and Codex.
  • Plan First. Turn it on and the agent explains its plan in plain English without changing anything. Tap "Go ahead with the plan" when you're happy.
  • Paste pictures. Command-V a screenshot or copied image straight into a chat.
  • Agents can use Chrome. Claude Code agents can use your Chrome (with the Claude in Chrome extension). There's a per-chat switch in the model menu.
  • A chime of its own when an agent answers.
  • Opening a chat always lands on the newest message.

macOS 14 or newer, Intel or Apple Silicon. Signed and notarized by Apple. Not affiliated with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or xAI.

cChat 0.1.6

@notlenny2 notlenny2 released this 02 Oct 19:08

New in 0.1.6

  • Build My Team. Make your own planning team: describe it in a sentence and cChat drafts it, or start from the classic seven, or from scratch. Give each person a name, what they care about and what they're like, and pick who gets the final word. "Call in the team" then brings your people onto any project. (File > Build My Team…)
  • Mark as Read / Unread. Right-click a chat to clear its "Needs you" tag and unread dot, or right-click a project heading to mark everything in it as read.
  • A little hello at launch. The clay icon presses itself together, then melts into your chats. Any click or key skips it.

macOS 14 or newer, Intel or Apple Silicon. Signed and notarized by Apple. Unzip and drag cChat to Applications.

Not affiliated with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or xAI.

cChat for Windows 0.1.1 (preview)

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@notlenny2 notlenny2 released this 01 Oct 20:45

Early preview of cChat for Windows. Text your coding agents like you text people. Every contact is a project folder, and a coding agent (Claude Code or Codex) answers in it.

Install

  1. Download cChat-0.1.1-windows-setup.exe below and run it.
  2. The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows shows a blue "Windows protected your PC" box. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. cChat needs at least one agent installed and signed in: Claude Code or Codex. The welcome screen has buttons for both.

What works: one-on-one chats with memory, group chats where agents take turns, next-step suggestions, "needs you" alerts, pictures in and out, project folders in the chat list, memory tidying, a usage meter, and Show the Work (Ctrl+Shift+E).

Not yet: pinning, Gemini and Grok, phone linking, the terminal, auto-update.

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. This is a test build, so please report bugs in Issues.

cChat 0.1.5

Choose a tag to compare

@notlenny2 notlenny2 released this 29 Sep 20:59

Requires macOS 14 or newer. Runs on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.

  • Gemini and Grok: start a chat on Google's Gemini CLI or xAI's Grok alongside Claude and Codex. Settings has rows to install and sign in to each; only the ones you have installed show up.
  • API keys: every engine can use an API key instead of a plan sign-in (Settings > "Use an API key instead"). Keys stay in your Mac's Keychain and are only handed to that engine's own tool. An API key bills per use.
  • The usage meter always shows when each limit resets, with a live countdown.
  • Two texts in a row in a group no longer lose the second one.
  • Chat list: project headings and group chats are bigger than single chats, and single chats sit under their group. Right-click a project for New Chat, a fresh chat with its own memory.
  • Claude's "Default" model now runs the newest Opus.

Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

cChat 0.1.4

Choose a tag to compare

@notlenny2 notlenny2 released this 26 Sep 15:36

Requires macOS 14 or newer. Runs on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs (this download is universal; 0.1.3 was Apple Silicon only).

  • Start your first project: a brand-new install shows one card to name a project and land straight in its chat, with starter suggestions. Or pick a folder you already have.
  • Project folders in the chat list: chats sit under their project, fold a project away, drag a chat to another folder.
  • Show the Work now matches Claude Code's verbose mode: full edits as red/green diffs, every command with its description, uncut outputs, session start, hooks, helper-agent steps, and an end-of-turn tally (time, turns, tokens, cost).
  • Phone: send pictures from the camera or photo library.

Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

cChat 0.1.3

Choose a tag to compare

@notlenny2 notlenny2 released this 24 Sep 09:38

What's new

  • Show the Work: flip the terminal button in a chat's header (or View > Show or Hide the Work, Cmd-Shift-E) to watch the commands, files and output behind each reply, terminal style. Off by default, and every reply keeps its log folded underneath.
  • Jump to latest: scroll up in a chat and a round arrow appears to take you back to the newest message.
  • Text size: View > Bigger Text / Smaller Text / Actual Size (Cmd = / - / 0).
  • Shift-Return starts a new line instead of sending.

Fixes

  • Group chats: when the one agent picked to answer passes, the message goes to the next member instead of being left unanswered.
  • Fixed a crash in long chats. Chats now show the latest 120 messages, with a button to load earlier ones.

Download cChat-0.1.3-mac.zip, unzip, and drag cChat to Applications. Signed and notarized by Apple. Needs macOS 14+ and Claude Code (the app walks you through it).

cChat 0.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@notlenny2 notlenny2 released this 23 Sep 14:34

What's new

  • Usage meter: see how much of your Claude and Codex limits you've used, right in the chat list.
  • Terminal: a real terminal for the open chat's project folder folds out above the text box.
  • Hourly backups of your chats.
  • Pictures and replies line up better, and chats scroll all the way down after a reply.

Fixes

  • Playing a video in a chat no longer crashes the app. Videos now open in their own player window.
  • The Codex tag is readable in dark mode.

Download cChat-0.1.2-mac.zip, unzip, and drag cChat to Applications. Signed and notarized by Apple. Needs macOS 14+ and Claude Code (the app walks you through it).

cChat 0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@notlenny2 notlenny2 released this 22 Sep 22:50

Fresh copy of the Mac app. Same features as 0.1.0, with a new app identity and nothing personal left inside it.

Unzip, drag cChat to Applications, open it. Signed and notarized by Apple.

cChat 0.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@notlenny2 notlenny2 released this 22 Sep 22:39

First public build of cChat: text your Claude Code projects like they're people.

Install: download cChat-0.1.0-mac.zip, unzip, drag cChat into Applications, open it.
Signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without warnings. Needs macOS 14 or later.

First run: the welcome screen installs Claude Code with Anthropic's official installer if you don't have it,
and opens Anthropic's own sign-in. You use your own Claude plan; cChat never sees your login.
Codex is optional.

Free side project, MIT licensed, not made by or affiliated with Anthropic or OpenAI.
Agents can edit files in the project folders you give them, so start with projects you have backed up.
