First public release of Cantio — floating Spotify lyrics for the macOS menu bar.

Highlights

  • Floating pill lyrics synced to Spotify, draggable with alignment guides
  • Fullscreen karaoke: big synced lyrics, album-art-tinted animated backdrop, auto-hiding transport controls (play/pause, ±10s seek, prev/next), scrubber
  • Double-click the pill to enter fullscreen; double-click / Esc to exit
  • HIG-native: glass materials, Reduce Motion / Reduce Transparency / VoiceOver support
  • Privacy-first: reads Spotify locally via AppleScript, only network call is LRCLIB for lyrics

Install (Homebrew)

brew install --cask --no-quarantine notuselessdev/tap/cantio

--no-quarantine is required because the app is not signed with an Apple Developer ID.

Manual install

Download the DMG below, drag Cantio to Applications. On first launch, right-click → Open (or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Cantio.app) since the app is unsigned.

Requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. Universal (Apple Silicon + Intel).
