Added

  • Line boil: make any drawing, image, text or vector feel hand-drawn. Its lines redraw themselves on their own frame rate, like cel animation. Choose boil, wobble or jitter, how many drawings loop, shake and twist, or start from a preset (Line boil, Sketchy, Jelly wobble, Hand-held).
  • Lightning follows the drawn line: with a Draw animation or a trimmed stroke, outline lightning sparks only along the part that's drawn, so the energy chases the pen.
  • Agent apps stay current: Claude Code and other agent apps now learn from the AtomCut version you have open, so new features reach them without updating the bridge. They can also report problems, just like the built-in chat.
  • Agents know the effects: which effect suits which job (boil, roughen, goo, glass, goo + glass, lightning and more), how to check heavy scenes without slowing your machine, and how counting numbers tick and step.

Fixed

  • Effects work on iPad: blur, adjust, glow, extra shadows, shine and light rays, lens flare streaks, film damage, scanlines, halftone and pixelate softness, bevel, stroke softness, blur animations and per-letter blur now render on iPad and in Safari. The GPU still does the work wherever it can.
  • Animated effects are much lighter: grain, glitch, roughened edges, noise and Line boil render once per step and reuse looping drawings, so a paused or playing project no longer redraws them every frame. Boil on a large, mostly empty pixel layer skips the empty areas.
  • No more crash when you hold a finger still to start drawing on a tablet ("getCoalescedEvents").
  • Agents can key a stroke's trim, dash, taper and wave, which the draw-on recipe needed.

Installing

macOS

AtomCut is not yet notarized, so on first launch Gatekeeper will say the app
"is damaged and can't be opened" or "cannot be opened because the developer
cannot be verified." This is expected for unsigned builds. After dragging
AtomCut into Applications, clear the quarantine flag once:

xattr -cr /Applications/AtomCut.app

Then open it normally. (Alternatively: right-click the app → Open → Open.)

Windows

SmartScreen may warn on first run. Choose More info → Run anyway.

Linux

  • AppImage: chmod +x AtomCut-*.AppImage && ./AtomCut-*.AppImage
  • Debian/Ubuntu: sudo dpkg -i AtomCut-*.deb

Once installed, AtomCut keeps itself up to date automatically — new versions are
offered in-app and install on relaunch.
