This application has four models (excluding the User model generated by Devise).

Course

This model is defined in models/course.rb. This model represents courses in a particular school. Each Course consists of:

  • name, a string value representing the name of the course
  • course_num, a string value representing the course number

Courses can be added, edited, or deleted by the administrator upon logging in.

Tests for the Course model are located in test/models/course_test.rb.

School

This model is defined in models/school.rb. This model represents various schools that can be selected by a user via the form. Each School consists of:

  • name: a string value representing the name of the school
  • location: a string value representing the location of the school
  • international: a boolean value indicating whether the school is outside of the United States or not

Every school has many courses, and when a school is deleted, its corresponding courses are deleted from the database as well.

Schools can be added, edited, or deleted by an administrator upon logging in.

Tests for the School model are located in test/models/school_test.rb.

TransferRequest

This model is defined in models/transfer_request.rb. This model represents transfer requests that have been approved or disapproved in the past by the University of Richmond's Mathematics Department. Each TransferRequest consists of:

  • transfer_school_id: an integer value representing the id number of a school in the database
  • transfer_course_id: an integer value representing the id number of a course in the database
  • ur_course_id: an integer value representing the id number of a course at the University of Richmond
  • approved: a boolean value representing whether this transfer was approved or not
  • reasons: a string value representing the reasons why a request was disapproved

Transfer requests can be added, edited, or deleted by an administrator upon logging in.

Tests for the TransferRequest model are located in test/models/transfer_request_test.rb.

PendingRequest

This model is defined in models/pending_request.rb. This model represents pending transfer requests that need to be reviewed by the administrator. Each PendingRequest consists of:

  • requester_name: a string value representing the name of the student who submitted the form
  • requester_email: a string value representing the email address of the student
  • transfer_school_id: an integer value representing the id number of a school in the database
  • transfer_school_other: a boolean value indicating whether or not the school was unlisted
  • transfer_school_name: a string value representing the name of an unlisted school
  • transfer_school_location: a string value representing the location of an unlisted school
  • transfer_school_international: a boolean value representing if the unlisted school is overseas
  • transfer_course_id: an integer value representing the id number of a course in the database
  • transfer_course_other: a boolean value indicating whether or not the course was unlisted
  • transfer_course_name: a string value representing the name of an unlisted course
  • transfer_course_num: a string value representing the course number of an unlisted course
  • transfer_course_url: a string value representing the URL of the course's online catalog
  • dual_enrollment: a boolean value indicating whether a student took this course under a dual enrollment program
  • ur_course_id: an integer value representing the id number of a course at the University of Richmond

Pending requests can be approved, disapproved, or deleted by the administrator upon logging in.

Tests for the PendingRequest model are located in test/models/pending_request_test.rb.
