Rake Tasks

This application has two custom Rake tasks which are defined within lib/tasks/history.rake.

History Import

Before this application existed, all mathematics course transfers were logged in an Excel spreadsheet (the original is located at import/transfer_credit_history.xls). In order to store all the existing data into a database, an import task is defined.

The task uses the Roo gem to parse the spreadsheet data, and iterates through each row of the spreadsheet to create corresponding entries in the application database. For more details, please view the code.

To run the history import, run bundle exec rake history:import.

Administrator Account

The application has one administrator account which has access to modifying schools, courses, and transfer requests. The admin task creates a default administrator account in the database. For more details, please view the code.

To run this task, run bundle exec rake history:admin.
