At long last, after eight years of development, I was able to write a DOOM port from scratch using my own cross-platform desktop app libraries. This was the goal all along, and I am very excited to finally reach this milestone. It cost me more than I would have thought, but I am happy with the result, and I have no regrets.

This new release fixes some issues I found while writing this DOOM port, ranging from flipped buffer (woops) to small optimizations. The biggest changes impact the build system and examples, as I introduced an optional loader to showcase globuf's modular architecture by binding the relevant backend from a given shared object. My initial plan was actually to use Justine Tunney's amazing cosmo toolchain to produce a universal DOOM binary, leveraging this aspect of globuf's design to configure its backend statically at run-time, but I was not able to make the Win32 trampolines work and had no luck with the Windows dynamic loader when I tried using shared objects instead. Never mind, maybe I will come back to this later :) For now, this demo will do.

I will now be refining my DOOM port by starting several new projects to make it more user-friendly, which will also be a great opportunity to dive more into my passion for UI, layout engines and real-time rendering. But first, let's celebrate! I made a video to visualize the development of Globuf, Willis, DPIshit, Cursoryx and TetraDOOM using Gource and a few home-made tools. Thank you, reader! Hack with care, and love without borders.
