v2.1.6 - Paradox multi-game support + Premium for crews

Choose a tag to compare

@nunnie-bunnies nunnie-bunnies released this 27 Jun 15:52

NullSync is a free desktop tool that diagnoses why a modded Paradox multiplayer game won't connect. It compares two players' mod setups and tells you exactly what's different (missing mods, load order, altered files, version mismatch), including mods that "look installed" in the launcher but silently failed to load.

New in this release

NullSync now works with the Paradox multiplayer games, not just Stellaris. Pick your game in the Fingerprint tab:

  • Stellaris
  • Crusader Kings III
  • Hearts of Iron IV
  • Europa Universalis IV
  • Victoria 3
  • Imperator: Rome

Everyone in a sync room must be on the same game. Also fixed a false "update available" notice that could show even when you were already up to date.

NullSync Premium - for crews that play together a lot

The app is free forever, Crash Analyzer included. The free app is great for a one-off "why won't we connect" check between two people.

Premium is a web dashboard at sync.nullcorestudio.com that solves the ongoing version of that problem for a whole group, so you stop re-checking by hand before every session:

  • Crew rooms - one page showing who in your group is out of sync, before you start a game
  • Crew modlist - one click to match the host's exact setup, no more "which mod is different"
  • Ready check - confirm the whole crew is good to go before you launch
  • Campaign lock - freeze your modlist for a save and get warned if a mod update could break it mid-campaign (no more nuked 40-hour runs)
  • Version-watch + Discord alerts - a ping in your server the moment a mod your crew uses updates and would desync you
  • Fix-it plans - not just what differs, but exactly what each person should change to match

One person pays, the whole crew plays

Only the host needs Premium. Everyone else joins their rooms for free. So one organizer covers the whole group.

Price: from $3/month on Patreon. Subscribe at patreon.com/nunniebunnie, then connect your Patreon at sync.nullcorestudio.com. That's it.

v2.1.1 - NullSync Premium is live

Choose a tag to compare

@nunnie-bunnies nunnie-bunnies released this 26 Jun 09:15

NullSync 2.1.1

NullSync Premium is live.

Premium is a web dashboard at sync.nullcorestudio.com for keeping a whole group in sync:

  • Group rooms - one page showing who in your crew is out of sync, before you start a game
  • Version-watch - get told when a mod your group uses updates and will desync you
  • Fix-it plans - not just what differs, but exactly what each person should do to match
  • Discord alerts - a ping in your server when a mod updates
  • One-shot compare links - send a friend a link, you both upload, see the diff, no pasting codes

The Premium tab in the app now opens it. Premium comes with supporting NullSync on Patreon; the app itself stays free.

Install

  • Windows: download and run NullSync-Setup-2.1.1.exe. Per-user install, no admin needed.
  • Linux (x64): download NullSync-linux-x64-2.1.1.tar.gz, extract, then chmod +x NullSync before the first run.

If your antivirus flags the installer, see ANTIVIRUS.md in the repository - NullSync is a free, unsigned tool and some aggressive heuristics false-positive on that.

v2.1.0 - Crash Analyzer + Linux support

Choose a tag to compare

@nunnie-bunnies nunnie-bunnies released this 26 Jun 06:15

NullSync 2.1.0

Crash Analyzer — point NullSync at a crash and it names the mod most likely responsible, so you can stop bisecting your modlist by hand. (Best guess from your logs, not a guarantee, but a strong starting point.)

Linux version — NullSync now runs natively on Linux.

NullSync is free, and the core stays free including the Crash Analyzer. If it has saved you time, you can support development on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/nunniebunnie

Warmer look and small UI polish throughout.

Install

  • Windows: download and run NullSync-Setup-2.1.0.exe. Per-user install, no admin needed.
  • Linux (x64): download NullSync-linux-x64-2.1.0.tar.gz, extract, then chmod +x NullSync before the first run.

If your antivirus flags the installer, see ANTIVIRUS.md in the repository. NullSync is a free, unsigned tool and some aggressive heuristics false-positive on that.

v2.0.7 - installer + antivirus guidance

Choose a tag to compare

@nunnie-bunnies nunnie-bunnies released this 16 Jun 04:58

Installer + fewer antivirus false positives.

Changed

  • NullSync now ships as a small installer instead of a single loose .exe. It installs per-user (no admin needed) and adds a Start menu shortcut. This packaging trips far fewer antivirus false positives than the previous single-file build.
  • The anonymous install count is now sent only after the app has been open for a while, rather than right at launch. Short sessions never send anything. It stays anonymous and is still tied to the "check for updates on startup" toggle.

Added

  • An ANTIVIRUS page explaining why compiled apps sometimes get flagged, how to confirm it is a false positive on VirusTotal, and how to allow it.

If your antivirus or SmartScreen warns about the installer, that is a known false positive for unsigned compiled apps, not a real detection. See ANTIVIRUS.md in the repo for the full explanation and how to verify it yourself.

On the antivirus warnings: NullSync is free and made to help people, so I am not going to pay for a yearly code-signing certificate just to quiet them. It is unsigned because signing costs money, not because anything is wrong with it. If you want to check it yourself, see ANTIVIRUS.md in the repo.

v2.0.6 - update notifications

Choose a tag to compare

@nunnie-bunnies nunnie-bunnies released this 16 Jun 03:55

Update notifications + build improvements.

Added

  • Startup update check. NullSync now checks for a newer release when it launches and shows a clickable banner at the top of the window when one is available (respects the "check for updates on startup" toggle in Settings). Before this, checking for updates was a manual button in Settings only.

Changed

  • Build and packaging improvements under the hood. No change to how the app works day to day.

v2.0.5 — themed alert dialogs

Choose a tag to compare

@nunnie-bunnies nunnie-bunnies released this 16 May 08:41

Themed alert dialogs everywhere. The "Mod load issues detected" popup (and every other alert in the app) was falling back to a native Qt message box — stark white-on-grey Windows chrome with a blue accent, which clashed hard with NullSync's gold-on-black aesthetic and was genuinely hard to read against the rest of the UI.

Fixed

  • All alerts now use the Nullcore theme. Built a dialogs.py module with the same info / warning / critical / question surface as QMessageBox, rendered as a dark gold-bordered panel with a Constantia title, role-colored glyph (ℹ / ⚠ / ✖ / ?), and primary/secondary gold-themed buttons. Routed every QMessageBox call site through it:
    • Mod load issues warning (the one that triggered this)
    • Fingerprint scan: deep-scan confirm, "not found", "no folder selected", "folder not found", scan-failed, save success, save-failed
    • Compare: "missing fingerprints", fingerprint read error, bad share code
    • Settings: premium-theme gate, theme-changed, update found, up-to-date, update-check failed
    • License: missing-key warning, license-saved, deactivate confirm (now reads "Deactivate / Cancel" instead of "Yes / No"), deactivated

Download: `NullSync.exe` (~73 MB, slim PyInstaller bundle)
