This release introduces groups, Windows-focused native memory hardening, and several usability improvements.

This update introduces Windows-focused native memory protection for sensitive cryptographic material used by nView. Vault passphrases, KDF-derived keys (KEK), and short-lived file encryption keys are now handled in locked memory while in use and securely wiped immediately after. This reduces the risk of sensitive data being paged to disk or lingering in memory. If the native component is unavailable, nView safely falls back to the existing implementation without impacting functionality.

Added

Groups (Library Collections)

A new Groups feature allows you to create and manage curated collections of manga within your library.

  • New Group Manager accessible from Settings → Group manager
  • Create, rename, edit description, and delete groups
  • Add and remove manga using a guided selection flow

In the Gallery:

  • New horizontal Group rail displayed at the top
  • Compact group cards showing name and item count
  • Clicking a group opens all valid manga in the Reader in order

Group data is stored only in encrypted app-managed storage.
No plaintext group files are written to disk.

Native Memory Protection

Integrated a Windows-focused native addon to reduce sensitive memory paging exposure for:

  • Vault passphrase material
  • KDF-derived KEK buffers
  • Derived per-file encryption keys
  • Selected IV/tag transient buffers

Key characteristics:

  • Uses native memory locking and secure zeroization for protected buffers on Windows
  • Deterministic cleanup on success and error paths
  • Graceful fallback on unsupported platforms
  • No changes to streaming encryption architecture or concurrency model

index.json Import Support

  • Added support for importing libraries that contain index.json

Custom Page Naming

  • Added support for custom page naming in Edit pages

Changed

Tag System Refinements

  • Removed “Backspace to delete tag” behavior to prevent accidental deletions
  • Tag suggestion pop-up now appears immediately on input

Minor UI Updates

  • Small layout and interaction refinements across windows
  • Polished behavior in metadata and page-edit flows
