NextExplorer browser tab title

I noticed that the NextExplorer browser tab title is showing the current directory

I would suggest to add the (Branding) Application Name to this:

• "current directory - NextExplorer"
• "current directory | NextExplorer"
• or some with other separator character...

Good idea, thanks! It's in my fork's test image, ghcr.io/cerede2000/explorer:test. Every tab now shows the page, then the Application Name set in Settings → Branding, separated by a bar: Projects | NextExplorer. I went with the bar because it takes less room than a dash in the tab bar.

While at it, I gave a proper title to the pages that didn't have one. The settings sections, the search results and the share lists all showed "Volumes". The editor had no title at all. At the top of a share, the tab showed the share's token. The sign-in page now shows the application name alone, and a new name saved in Branding updates the open tabs without a reload.

If you switch from nxzai/explorer to try it, back up your /config folder first: the fork may upgrade the database. Let me know how it looks on your side.

I'm quite confused as per this other discussion thread: Translation questions
I was under the impression that the developer of this project was responding to my suggestion above and it didn't occur to me that was being pointed to an alternative NextExplorer fork.

I’m the creator and maintainer of NextExplorer. cerede2000 has been a valuable contributor, and I appreciate his work, but I do not think promoting or redirecting users to a separate fork from this project’s issues or discussions is appropriate.

Forks are part of open source, but if there are improvements that could benefit NextExplorer, I would prefer to see them contributed here so they can be reviewed and potentially merged.

More generally, with AI-assisted coding, the volume of code contributions has increased significantly, while reviewing and maintaining that code still takes substantial effort. My priority is to keep NextExplorer healthy, understandable, and maintainable.

I’m sorry you were redirected to another fork through this discussion. Going forward, I’ll ask that external forks not be promoted or presented as alternatives in NextExplorer’s issue and discussion threads unless they are directly relevant and clearly identified as unofficial.
