Donut Coin v0.2.0

No consensus change since v0.1.9: a v0.1.9 node and a v0.2.0 node agree on every block.

Miner

  • Workers stay alive for the whole run and take each new block as a new job, instead of being killed and restarted at every block and every two-minute refresh. No more idle gaps, steadier load.

Wallet and node

  • A coin already claimed by a waiting transaction is no longer listed as spendable, so a second send can't reach for it.
  • Sends wait up to two minutes for the node's answer; a large transaction takes a while to check.
  • The background sync keeps going when its peer restarts mid-download (it used to stop until the node itself was restarted).
  • A replacement of blocks the node already had is logged as a reorg and counted on /api/info; a node that was simply behind logs "caught up" instead.

Site

  • Every page shows the running version in its footer.
  • The home page shows a newcomer's live odds of finding a block, from the network's current speed.

Notes on the chain: a transaction carries up to 280 characters. From block 560: one note per block, a licence earned by mining (a block reward within 10,080 blocks), at least a Ribbon held, a fee of at least 100 DONUT. The public site shows notes from named authors only. New commands: donutcoin note, wallet claim, hide. Nodes now report their version and announce a newer one in the log and on the explorer; nothing installs itself.

Intel Mac build moves to GitHub's current Intel runner.

Mac downloads are zipped so the program stays runnable after the browser saves it (a bare binary lost its execute bit). First open on macOS 15 and later: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway, or the one-line Terminal command on the Download page. Everything from v0.1.5: mining pays your account by @username.

Donut Coin v0.1.5

@nyc-esq nyc-esq released this 17 Sep 05:51

Mining pays your account: the first run asks for the @username of your account on donutcoin.meme/wallet and every block you find lands there (remembered; --to @name or DONUTCOIN_TO skips the question). Press Enter instead for a wallet file on your computer. Blocks are tagged with your username. --help prints usage.
