Motor:Cycles 1.0.0-rc18

Adds live breaks: while a pattern plays, hold PAGE to throw the whole pattern into a breakcore-style variation (stutters, half/double time, reversed bars, chops, building rolls, with pan, timbre, filter, distortion and octave movement). Every press is different; release returns to the pattern as written. Nothing is saved into your pattern.

The patcher in this release produces, byte for byte, the firmware file tested on a real Model:Cycles. An earlier RC18 build hung at the startup screen; the cause (firmware image layout past a boot-time limit) is fixed and the build now enforces the limit.

Install: download MotorCycles-macOS.zip, unzip, right-click MotorCycles.app and choose Open (it is not notarised). Drop your official Model:Cycles OS 1.13 .syx into the window, click Convert, then Save…, and send the saved file with Elektron Transfer. Back up your projects first, and read the disclaimer in the README.

First release of Motor:Cycles, generative rhythmic-noise firmware for the Elektron Model:Cycles.

Install

1. Download MotorCycles-1.0.0-rc17-macOS.zip, unzip it, then right-click MotorCycles.app and choose Open (the app is not notarised).
2. Drop the official Model:Cycles OS 1.13 .syx from elektron.se into the window, click Convert, then Save….
3. Send the saved file to your Model:Cycles with Elektron Transfer.

The patcher works only with the official OS 1.13 file. It checks every stage of the conversion against known checksums. See the README for features, credits and the disclaimer: installing custom firmware may void your warranty and is at your own risk.
