Release notes

WhatDay tells you when there is a new version

A few seconds after it starts, then once a day while it runs, WhatDay asks GitHub whether a newer release has been published. When one has, it says so and offers three choices. Download opens the new setup program in your browser; Skip This Version means that version is never offered again; Later asks again at the next check.

The tray menu gains Check for updates, just below About. It asks straight away and always answers: the offer, "You are running the latest version." or a message saying GitHub could not be reached. A check you asked for ignores a skipped version; the automatic one stays silent unless it has something new to offer.

One connection, disclosed

Until now WhatDay made no network connection of any kind. The update check is now its one exception: an anonymous read of WhatDay's own public releases list, sending nothing about you or your machine. Nothing else in WhatDay may reach the network; a test fails the build if any other code tries. The setup program still connects to nothing. The README, the site and the specification now say exactly this in place of the old "no network" promise.

The site

The site now lives at ernster.dev/WhatDay. Its download section follows the house pattern: one button that always fetches the newest WhatDaySetup.exe, with the version and file size beside it. The spacing between its sections, lost in the last release, is back.
