BitQuarry v0.6.0 encrypted transport release
BitQuarry 0.6 adds bounded BitTorrent protocol encryption while preserving the
lightweight Windows-first workflow and the strict proxy-routing guarantees from
0.5.
Official product, installation, and checksum guidance is maintained on the
BitQuarry product page. The
versioned GitHub assets below are immutable; the website and automatic-update
feed are rolled out separately.
Highlights
- Add MSE/PE modes for disabled, preferred, and encrypted-only peer traffic.
- Support encrypted outgoing and incoming TCP, uTP, and SOCKS-proxied peer TCP.
- Default new installations to preferred encryption while migrating existing
settings to disabled so upgrades do not silently change connectivity. - Keep preferred-mode plaintext fallback on one fresh connection through the
same route; a SOCKS-configured peer never falls back directly. - Bound Diffie-Hellman values, padding scans, encrypted initial payloads, and
negotiation timeouts, and reject unknown torrents or handshake mismatches. - Add local TCP, uTP, proxy-routing, Transmission interoperability, and bounded
Ubuntu public-swarm qualification for encrypted transfers. - Preserve the 1280x720 (16:9) default window and the existing minimal settings
surface.
Distribution notes
Windows Authenticode signing remains deferred, so direct downloads may display
Unknown Publisher or SmartScreen warnings. Verify the published SHA-256
checksum before running a package. Installed updates require BitQuarry's
separate updater signature even though the Windows package itself is unsigned.
Version 0.3 and earlier require a one-time manual installation. Installed 0.4
and 0.5 builds can update automatically after the 0.6 installer and signed feed
are uploaded to the official jtorrent.net update endpoint. Portable builds
continue to open the official downloads page for manual upgrades.
MSE/PE is traffic obfuscation, not anonymity, peer authentication, modern
confidentiality, or a replacement for a trusted VPN. BitTorrent v2/hybrid
torrents, web seeds, and scheduling remain deferred.
