Added

  • Java 25 support — Full installer support for Java 25 across all supported Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian 12+, Debian legacy):
    • install_java25 — downloads and installs JDK 25 via Oracle .deb package
    • check_java25 — detects an existing Java 25 installation
    • check_current25, script_creator_25, select_ram_25 wrappers added
    • compare() (both in the main script and in generated start.sh) updated to detect and map Java 25
  • .enable_future_pre_releases experimental setting — Allows installing Minecraft versions beyond the current officially supported maximum version, provided the required Java version is supported by the script. Create the flag file to opt in: 
    touch .enable_future_pre_releases
    Remove to disable: 
    rm .enable_future_pre_releases

  • Minecraft Vanilla Snapshot & Pre-release support — Users can now install snapshot versions (e.g. 13w36a, 24w14a) and pre-release / release-candidate versions (e.g. 1.21.11-pre4, 26.1-pre-3) directly from the version input field

  • mcurlgrabber.py — Rewritten to support snapshot version IDs:
    • Removed dependency on packaging.version; versions are now matched by exact string ID
    • Version filter extended from "release" only to "release" and "snapshot"
    • get_java_version() now defaults to Java 8 for legacy snapshots that predate the javaVersion manifest field
    • get_server_url() now exits cleanly (sys.exit(1)) when no server download is available (e.g. client-only snapshots)
    • Argument count check fixed to require exactly 3 arguments instead of 2
  • version_checker — Reworked to handle non-numeric version strings:
    • Weekly snapshot format (e.g. 24w14a) bypasses numerical min/max checks and proceeds directly to manifest validation
    • Versioned suffixes (-pre, -rc, -snapshot) have their base version extracted (e.g. 26.1 from 26.1-pre-3) for proper numerical bounds checking
    • Versions with an unrecognised suffix format that are above maxVer are blocked correctly instead of being let through
  • java_selector — Now validates that the Java version returned by mcurlgrabber.py is one the script supports before proceeding; displays a clear error message and returns to the version input if not supported
  • check_valid — Output of mcurlgrabber.py server-url is now suppressed (redirected to /dev/null); only the exit code is used to determine validity
  • Error dialog in check_valid — "Hint: Snapshot versions are not supported!" removed from the error message
  • README.md — Vanilla features entry updated to mention snapshot/pre-release support; FAQ answer for snapshot versions updated from "No" to "Yes" with usage examples
