There are some processing steps which will help to get cleaner 2D histograms. Cleaner histograms are more useful to see the fingerprints of tissues.
- For instance skull stripping makes a noticeable difference:

- Another crucial step is to remove the intensity inhomogeneities in the data. For instance see the effect of strong inhomogeneity:
Smudged looking 2D histograms are less useful to separate the tissues.
