Release list
OptiGuard v4.22.0
Update re-check every ~6 h and after resume from sleep (re-check installs only when the user is idle 3+ min); SHA-256 verification of the downloaded installer against GitHub's published digest (missing digest never blocks); unit tests for the update logic. Startup-check behavior unchanged.
OptiGuard v4.21.1
Onboarding welcome page now shows a real brand illustration (shield + checkmark, generated with Bloom AI in OptiGuard's emerald palette) above the welcome/features text, framed to read cleanly in both Light and Dark themes.
See CHANGELOG.md for full details.
OptiGuard v4.21.0
Visual/interaction polish pass on top of the v4.20 navigation consolidation (18 tabs -> 4 sections + Settings).
- Real vector icon set replacing emoji throughout the app (nav, buttons, status glyphs)
- Subtle depth/elevation: soft shadows on sidebar, sub-nav, active nav item, and key cards
- Micro-interactions: hover/press states with icon recoloring and a "you are here" active-tab underline
- Consistent typography and spacing scale (Theme.FontCaption/Body/Subtitle/Title/Display, Space1..4)
- Designed empty states (icon + message) for every scan-result list: Junk Cleaner, Duplicate Finder, Software Updates, Registry Cleaner
No navigation restructuring - all v4.20 sections/tabs preserved.
OptiGuard 4.20.0 - Navigation & Design Redesign
Navigation, color/icon, and wizard redesign
Consolidated the 18 flat top-level tabs into 4 purposeful sections (plus standalone Settings), addressing feedback that the app had too many categories and felt crowded:
- Overview - Dashboard, Activity Timeline, Quick Fixes, System Info
- Apps & Startup - Programs, Games, Extensions, Startup
- Cleanup & Storage - Junk Cleaner, Disk Health, Disk Space Analyzer, Duplicate Finder, Registry Cleaner
- Security & Updates - Security Center, Privacy, Phishing Checker, Software Updates
- Settings - unchanged
No feature was removed - every original tab is still reachable via an in-page sub-navigation strip. Icons cut from 18 different emoji down to 5 (one per section). Onboarding wizard reduced from 5 pages to 3 by merging read-only screens. Desktop widget Settings copy reframed around its quick-scan use case (widget itself stays off by default, opt-in only).
See CHANGELOG.md in the repo for full details.

OptiGuard v4.19.1
Language-purity audit fixes
Found and fixed several hardcoded-language leaks where UI text stayed in one language regardless of which language the app is actually running in (English vs Hebrew), plus two leaks in the installer itself. Highlights:
- Residual-cleanup "reason" text and type labels (Programs tab "Clean Residuals" dialog) were hardcoded Hebrew regardless of language.
- Startup tab's status ("Active"/"Disabled") and location labels were hardcoded Hebrew regardless of language.
- Extensions tab's permission-risk labels and the "(no name)" fallback were hardcoded Hebrew regardless of language.
- A few error dialogs ("See log file.") and two residual reasons were hardcoded English regardless of language.
- Installer: the header tagline never updated when switching to Hebrew, and the desktop/Start Menu shortcut description and a fallback error message were hardcoded English.
All of the above now route through the app's I18n system (I18n.T / SetupI18n.T). Locale key parity between en.json/he.json verified (618/618). Full file:line detail in CHANGELOG.md.

OptiGuard v4.19.0
What's new
Startup items now show a digital signature check. Competitor research on IObit Uninstaller Pro (which "distinguishes trusted, ad-injecting, and malicious plugins at a glance") motivated checking whether the program behind each boot-time entry carries a real Windows Authenticode signature, not a heuristic guess. The Startup tab's new "Digital Signature" column shows the verified publisher, "Unsigned", or "Not checked" - unsigned is never shown as a scary verdict, since plenty of legitimate software isn't signed.
Bulk actions for Startup and Browser Extensions. CCleaner's Startup Manager and IObit Uninstaller Pro's batch uninstall both let you act on several items in one pass; OptiGuard's Startup and Extensions tabs previously only supported one item at a time. Both grids now have a selection checkbox column: "Disable Selected" on Startup, "Remove Selected" on Extensions - matching the batch uninstall the Programs tab already had.
Wider browser cache cleanup. The Junk Cleaner's browser-cache category now scans every Chrome/Edge profile (not just "Default"), and each profile's Cache, Code Cache, and GPUCache folders.
Explanatory tooltips. The Extensions tab's "Permission Risk" column and the new Startup "Digital Signature" column now explain what their values mean on hover, continuing the "every option explains what it does" pass from 4.18.0.

Verification
dotnet buildonsrc/OptiGuard.csproj: 0 warnings, 0 errors.build/build.ps1(app + Inno-style installer build): succeeded, single installer at project root, old 4.18.0 installer removed.locales/en.json/locales/he.json: verified same key count (576) after this change.- GUI: launched the freshly built OptiGuard.exe directly (not the previously installed 4.18.0) to confirm it starts; a live on-screen visual walkthrough of the new Startup/Extensions UI could not be completed in this environment because the screen-capture consent step was interrupted, so the new columns/buttons are verified by code review and build success, not by a screenshot.
OptiGuard v4.18.0
Changed
Settings and Programs tab - every option now explains what it does.
Several toggles only had a name before, with no indication of what turning
them on actually changes: "Show system components by default" (Advanced),
"Keep quarantined files for" (Safety), "Automatically check for updates"
and "Automatically download and install updates" (Updates), "Show desktop
notifications" (Notifications), and the "Categories the scheduled cleanup
may include" list (Advanced) all now have a short muted sub-line
underneath explaining what they actually do, matching the pattern already
used elsewhere in Settings (e.g. "Follow Windows theme"). The "Show
system components" checkbox on the Programs tab toolbar got a tooltip
instead, since it's too compact for a sub-line. Settings' existing
section grouping was already clear, so it's unchanged.
Onboarding no longer asks for a language a second time. The installer
already asks for a language on its first screen and saves it to
settings.json before OptiGuard ever runs, and the app already loads that
into the active language before opening the onboarding wizard. Onboarding
itself nonetheless showed its own "Select Language" dropdown asking the
same question again - that's now removed. The welcome page shows a short
note instead that the language can be changed anytime in Settings.
Verified the existing Skip button (visible on every page, Esc also works)
already finishes onboarding correctly with sane defaults, so no changes
were needed there.
Full bilingual changelog is kept locally in CHANGELOG.md (not shipped in
this repo).

OptiGuard 4.17.0
Added
- Settings > About > "Export Diagnostics": bundles the app's log file(s), version.json, settings.json, and a new system-info.txt (OS version, .NET version, OptiGuard version, install path, elevated status) into a single .zip via a standard save dialog.
- Settings > Appearance > "Follow Windows theme": explicit opt-in toggle that keeps the app theme in sync with the Windows light/dark setting on every launch, instead of only reading it once at first run.

OptiGuard v4.16.2
Fix: the installer wrote a fake 1MB size to the uninstall registry entry, so Windows Settings > Apps always showed the wrong size. Now computed from the real installed files.
OptiGuard v4.16.1
Desktop widget is now off by default (opt-in from Settings) instead of appearing automatically after install.
