v2.59.1 — new since v2.59.0

The first release built, checked and published by CI on the tag push
(.github/workflows/release.yml), not by hand.

Release assets fixed

  • vsp-linux-amd64 is static again. v2.59.0's needed glibc 2.34 or later.
    Every binary is now built with CGO_ENABLED=0.
  • LICENSE and NOTICE ship with the binaries. Apache-2.0 components are
    embedded.
  • The build info names the release commit. CI refuses a binary whose Go
    VCS stamp is not the tag's commit or comes from a modified tree. It runs
    --version on Linux, macOS and Windows (x64 and ARM), and publishes only
    after downloading the draft back and comparing it byte for byte (#329).

New

  • Has a transport been imported here, and how did it go? MCP system
    import_status reads a request's tp steps from TPALOG, read-only (#332,
    ported from #297).
  • Activation failures say why. vsp install, copy, source write and
    source edit print the activation messages: object, line and text,
    capped at 20 (#333).
  • Long writes take the call timeout. WriteSource, EditSource and the
    activations honour --call-timeout / params.timeout, so a large program
    is no longer cut at 60 s. A lock taken before the time ran out is still
    released. If vsp cannot confirm the release, it says the lock may still
    be held (#333).

Fixed

  • Deleting or updating with your own lock handle on SAP_BASIS 816. The
    package check now runs inside that lock's session, so the write no longer
    comes back 423 (#331, ported from #292).
  • No false "package does not exist". The check before a create read
    "404" anywhere in an error, including a port number in its URL, so a
    timeout could be reported as a missing package (#338).

Removed

  • Three MCP tools that did nothing useful. InstallAbapGit deployed
    nothing but reported success, InstallDummyTest was a test tool, and
    WriteDataElementLabels always refused. abapGit's standalone edition still
    installs with vsp install abapgit --edition standalone (#334, #277).

Coming in the next release: fewer platforms. vsp-linux-386,
vsp-linux-arm and vsp-windows-386 will no longer be built. Together they
were about 6% of downloads. The remaining six are linux, macOS and Windows,
each on amd64 and arm64.
