tools to stop orphaned child processes from surviving parent exits and cooking your cpu:

• mcp-guardian: runs child commands with PR_SET_PDEATHSIG and tracks stdin eof, so the whole process tree dies when the parent exits or crashes.
• orphan-watchdog: periodic systemd timer that checks for abandoned processes burning sustained cpu or looping on broken pipes, with starttime identity checks to prevent pid reuse races.
