Quick overview

  • Hostile mobs have a configurable chance to drop a weapon, armor piece, or tool with a rarity tier (drop-weights, default 50% armor / 25% weapon / 25% tool)
  • Hostile mobs also have a separate chance to spawn already wielding/wearing a rarity item — visible loot signal before you even land the kill; if you kill an equipped mob, what it's wearing is guaranteed to drop
  • Each item gets a random RPG name (e.g. Shadow Blade, Tidal Piercer, Ironveil Chestplate)
  • Rarity adds a scaled flat bonus over the item's vanilla base stats — enchantments stack independently
  • Bonus stats are unique per item type and rolled randomly within fixed ranges
  • Set bonus system: weapons and armor belong to named sets — equip 2–5 matching pieces (same set name, rarity, and material) to unlock scaling bonuses
  • Tool support: pickaxe, shovel, hoe, fishing rod, woodcutter axe — Fortune Boost, Auto-Smelt, and more. Tools can roll up to Legendary from kills or structure loot
  • Crafted tools are always RPGLoot — pickaxes, shovels, hoes, fishing rods, and axes made at a crafting table (or Crafter block) become RPGLoot tools immediately, capped below Legendary (tool-crafting)
  • Boss mobs guarantee a rarity drop with a configurable minimum rarity
  • Structure loot pipeline: vanilla structure chests, vaults, and trial-spawner rewards convert any weapon/armor/tool they roll into RPGLoot gear (same material). structure-loot.ensure-gear re-rolls the vanilla table if none appeared, and fallback-inject guarantees exactly one gear piece if re-rolling still comes up empty
  • Archaeology and villager trades convert too — brushing suspicious sand/gravel and buying from a toolsmith/weaponsmith/armorer both produce RPGLoot gear (villager trades capped at Rare)
  • Mob material tier system: mobs drop items using materials appropriate to their difficulty zone
  • Floating damage numbers and particle effects provide in-combat feedback
  • Debug tooling for admins: /rpgloot testchest spawns a virgin loot chest to test the pipeline on demand; /rpgloot debug chests/debug scan mark and list unopened loot containers in the world
  • Everything is configurable: drop weights, rarity weights, boss drop ranges, structure loot caps and pipeline behavior
  • Compatible with Paper 1.20.4 through 26.1.2
  • RPGMood integration is opt-in (rpgmood-integration.enabled: false by default) — when enabled, mobs scaled by RPGMood's difficulty system get a higher minimum rarity floor the deeper you explore
