π DropMind v2.0
Wellβ¦ you thought I disappeared? π
Summer happened. Between a thousand commitments, other projects, motorcycles, and a few other passions, I spent a little less time around DropMind than usual.
But I wasn't exactly sitting still. π
Behind the scenes I've been working hard on a major evolution of DropMind β and today v2.0 is finally here.
This release is not just about adding another feature: it brings a more modular frontend architecture, a refreshed user experience, and some important groundwork for the future of the project.
β¨ New Features
π Light & Dark Mode
- Added full Light Mode alongside the existing Dark Mode
- Improved visual separation between background, cards and interface elements
- Theme can be switched directly from the interface
- Theme preference is preserved between sessions
- Responsive across desktop and mobile layouts
π Incremental New Message Detection
- Added a lightweight background check for newly captured messages
- New cards can appear without performing a full page refresh
- Existing cards remain untouched in the DOM
- Current scroll position is preserved when new cards are inserted
- Checks are automatically paused when the page is hidden or offline
- Interaction states such as editing, selection and menus are protected from unwanted updates
𧩠Frontend Modularization
- Refactored the frontend into clearer application modules
- Separated application logic from reusable UI and interaction components
- Introduced the first reusable Dany Framework components
- Improved maintainability and made future development easier
- Existing DropMind functionality remains fully compatible
π¨ User Experience Improvements
- Improved Light Mode readability and visual hierarchy
- Refined interface structure and card presentation
- Improved multi-selection handling
- Better separation between application logic and UI rendering
- No changes to the underlying DropMind data model
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed various frontend issues uncovered during the 2.0 refactoring
- Improved UI state handling during dynamic updates
- Reduced unnecessary full-list re-rendering
- Preserved existing behavior during the transition to the modular frontend
π§ Architecture
DropMind 2.0 introduces the first real step toward a more reusable frontend architecture.
The new structure separates application-specific logic from generic UI, interaction and data-handling components, providing a cleaner foundation for future DropMind development and experimentation.
This is intentionally an incremental evolution rather than a complete rewrite.
π Upgrade Notes
No database migration is required.
Existing DropMind data remains fully compatible with v2.0.
Simply update the application files and restart the container.
π A small personal note
DropMind started as a small personal tool and somehow it's still growing.
v2.0 is probably the biggest architectural step I've taken with the project so far β and, perhaps more importantly, it makes future ideas much easier to build.
So no, I didn't disappear. π
I was just building DropMind 2.0 in the background.
Enjoy! π
