A searchable settings window for the things new users most often want to change, in the spirit of macOS System Settings, without editing Lua/JSON or learning which
omarchycommand does what.Repo: https://github.com/charlesmccarthy/omarchy-settings
Opens with Super+I, a gear in the bar, or Settings in the Omarchy menu. It's a shell overlay built from the shell's own components, so it follows the theme, and it works entirely from the keyboard (type to search, arrows to move and adjust, Tab between sidebar and page).
Pages: Mouse & Touchpad (pointer speed, acceleration, natural scrolling, tap to click, scroll speed, palm rejection, swipe gestures), Keyboard (repeat, layout, Caps Lock), Display (brightness, scale, text size, zoom, night light), Appearance (theme, wallpaper, font, terminal font size, gaps, borders, rounding, blur, animations, bar position), Windows (tiling/scrolling, float by default, focus on click or hover, edge resizing), Date & Time (12/24-hour clock, time zone), Idle & Lock, Power (separate profiles on AC and battery), Notifications, Default Apps, About.
How it stays out of the way of hand-written config:
hyprctl getoption, plus the existingomarchycommands), so it shows what's actually in effect, including values from your own files.hyprctl evaland only what you change is saved, to one generated~/.config/hypr/settings.lualoaded after the user's files and before the toggles.input.lua,looknfeel.luaetc. are never rewritten, and Reset removes a value so your own config applies again.omarchy theme set, omarchy font set, omarchy powerprofiles set, omarchy bar set, omarchy toggle …,omarchy default …), so it behaves exactly like the CLI.This has come up in pieces before: #10053 (unified GUI settings panel), #3576 (monitors), #7677 (keyboard layout, where a ThinkPad user couldn't type
:to get out of Vim), #9403 (idle timings). Following the approach from #6611, it's an external plugin first, so it can be lived with before deciding whether anything belongs in Omarchy itself. Even if a full settings app isn't a fit, individual pieces (e.g. a keyboard-layout picker, or idle timings in the menu) might be.I've only tested it on a ThinkPad X13 Gen 3 (single screen, Tokyo Night). If any of it feels like a fit, I'm happy to rework it to the repo conventions (
omarchy-*commands instead of the helper script, a migration instead of the install script, acceptance tests) as small PRs.All reactions
