a² 0.1.0a1 — technical preview

A small Python agent for inspectable data workflows and externally checked
reusable skills. Intended for developers exploring recurring data transformations.

Try it

Install the included wheel with python -m pip install a2-0.1.0a1-py3-none-any.whl,
then run python -m a2.customer_demo --output runs/customer-demo --compact.
Python 3.11+ and Linux/macOS are required for restricted skill execution.

The included customer-reconciliation scenario runs two synthetic CRM/ERP CSV
batches through the same verified, human-written projection and exact-match
skills. Independent expected outputs check four/five matches and two unmatched
CRM records per batch. A separate guard check refuses a changed skill before
any execution. The demo makes zero model requests and emits inspectable plans,
JSON/CSV outputs and a standalone HTML report.

The project also supports bounded model-based data solving/skill generation,
model-assisted proposals, local versioned skill maintenance, shared token limits,
strict JSON checking and offline initialization. See README and SECURITY.md.

Boundaries

  • Synthetic exports, no real-user pilot or live CRM/ERP connector.
  • Human-written demo skills; no learning/efficiency superiority claim from this demo.
  • Small-file adapter: 48 KB per CSV, 40 KB parsed batch, 8000 characters per skill output.
  • Automatic planning supports four canonical data contracts.
  • Restricted Python workers are not an OS sandbox for adversarial code.
  • Full independent multi-seed release evaluation remains incomplete.
  • Local verification is recorded in DEVELOPMENT.md; hosted GitHub CI is available in the repository Actions tab.

Verification

Release commit: 73dd8a7a2f2674031dee0f898a6edf697c555edb.
GitHub CI matrix: Linux/macOS × Python 3.11/3.12, Ruff, offline tests, demos, distribution checks and fresh-wheel smoke tests.

Download a2-0.1.0a1-launch-kit.zip for the complete presentation package, or choose individual assets below. DEMO.html is a standalone report; demo.cast is an Asciinema terminal recording. No live model calls are used by this demo or CI.
