Final Fight 3 — SNES Native Recompilation
A native Windows recompilation project for Final Fight 3 (USA), originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES).
This project aims to bring Final Fight 3 to modern Windows computers through native recompilation rather than traditional SNES emulation.
Project Status
Windows build tested successfully — October 17, 2026.
The following features have been tested locally:
- Game launching and ROM selection
- Title screen and menu navigation
- Graphics rendering
- Audio playback
- Gameplay and player controls
- Normal application exit
Current release target: v0.1.0
Additional testing and improvements may be required.
How It Works
The recompilation system converts supported SNES game code into native code that can be compiled and executed on a modern computer.
The intended public setup process is:
- Download the ROM-free Windows setup package from GitHub Releases.
- Extract the ZIP file.
- Launch the setup application.
- Select your legally obtained Final Fight 3 (USA) ROM when prompted.
- Allow the setup application to generate and build the required game code.
- Launch and play the resulting native Windows game.
Important: The ROM-free setup workflow must be successfully built and tested before these instructions can be considered verified for a public release.
ROM Requirements
Supported game: Final Fight 3 (USA)
Platform: Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)
The project is designed for the supported ROM revision. Other versions, regions, or modified ROMs may not work.
The user must provide their own legally obtained game ROM.
This repository does not provide ROM downloads, ROM files, or generated ROM-derived source code.
Download
Visit the [GitHub Releases page](https://github.com/omegakatana92/Final-Fight-3-Recomp/releases) for published builds and setup packages.
A downloadable Windows release will be available once the ROM-free setup package has passed release testing.
Building From Source
The source repository contains the recompilation project, build configuration, scripts, and required framework references.
Developers should clone the repository with its submodules:
git clone --recurse-submodules https://github.com/omegakatana92/Final-Fight-3-Recomp.gitcd Final-Fight-3-RecompBuilding requires compatible development tools, the project's recompilation framework, and the supported ROM for local code generation.
Consult the repository's build scripts and workflow configuration for the exact toolchain and build procedure.
Project Goals
- Run Final Fight 3 natively on Windows.
- Provide a straightforward ROM-selection and setup experience.
- Preserve the original game's gameplay, graphics, and audio.
- Improve compatibility and stability.
- Make the source code and build workflow available for development.
- Keep copyrighted game assets out of the public source repository and release packages.
Known Limitations
- The project is still under development.
- The Windows build has been tested locally, but broader compatibility testing is pending.
- The public ROM-free setup process requires release validation.
- Only the supported USA ROM revision is targeted.
- Additional bugs may be discovered during testing.
